元來 13個 州가 1787年 憲法을 批准한 順序와 다른 州가 聯邦에 加入한 順序

美國 의 한 週 는 50個의 構成國 가운데 하나로서 主權 을 聯邦 政府 와 共有한다. 各 州와 聯邦 政府 間 主權 共有로 因해 美國人 은 聯邦 共和國 및 그들이 居住하는 注意 市民 이라고 할 수 있다. [1] 켄터키州 , 매사추세츠주 , 펜실베이니아주 , 버지니아州 는 正式 名稱에 週(state)라는 用語 代身 커먼웰스 (commonwealth)라는 用語를 使用한다.

주는 美國의 주된 行政區域 이다. 聯邦 政府에 附與되지 않았거나 美國 憲法 에 依해 禁止되지 않은 모든 權限을 所有한다. 一般的으로 州 政府 는 週內貿易, 選擧 運營, 地方 政府 樹立, 公立 學校 政策, 非聯邦 道路 建設 및 維持 補修 等 地域 問題를 規制할 權限이 있다. 各 州는 共和主義 原則에 根據한 自體 憲法 , 그리고 行政府, 立法府, 司法府로 構成된 政府를 構成한다. [2]

모든 州와 住民들은 上院 과 下院 으로 構成된 兩院制 立法府인 聯邦 議會 를 代表한다. 各 州는 2名의 上院 議員과 적어도 한 名의 下院 議員으로 대표되며 州 下院 代表團의 規模는 最近에 憲法的으로 義務化된 10年에 한 番 치러지는 人口 調査에 依해 決定된 總 人口 數에 따라 달라진다. [3] 또, 各 州는 美國 大統領 을 選出하는 美國 選擧人團에 투표할 수많은 選擧人을 選擇할 權限을 附與받으며 그 數는 該當 州의 議會의 上院議員과 下院議員의 數와 比例한다. [4]

  1. ↑ The exact date upon which Ohio became a state is unclear. On 1802年 4月 30日, the 7th Congress had passed an act "authorizing the inhabitants of Ohio to form a Constitution and state government, and admission of Ohio into the Union" (Sess. 1, ch. 40, 2  Stat.   173 ). On 1803年 2月 19日, the same Congress passed an act "providing for the execution of the laws of the United States in the State of Ohio" (Sess. 2, ch. 7, 2  Stat.   201 ). Neither act, however, set a formal date of statehood. An official statehood date for Ohio was not set until 1953, when the 83rd Congress passed a en:Joint resolution "for admitting the State of Ohio into the Union", ( Pub.L.   83?204 , 67  Stat.   407 , 1953年 8月 7日 制定) which designated 1803年 3月 1日, as that date.
