美國 物理學會 (American Physical Society, APS)는 獨逸 物理學會에 이어 世界에서 두番째로 큰 物理學者들의 團體이다. APS에서는 有名한 피지컬 리뷰 (Physical Review) 와 Physical Review Letters를 包含하여, 十餘種 以上의 저널을 出版하고 있다. 每年 20餘個 以上의 學會와 分課 모임이 開催된다. APS는 American Institute of Physics 에 屬한 團體이기도 하다. ^[1]

美國 物理學會는 1899年 5月 20日에 서른 여섯名은 物理學者들이 컬럼비아 大學 에 모여 設立되었다. 草創期에 4年마다 열리다가, 每年 開催되는 學會를 開催하는 것이 APS의 唯一한 活動이었다. 1893年 컬럼비아 大學 에서 始作된 피지컬 리뷰를 1913年 APS가 넘겨 받아 저널 出版이 APS의 두番째 큰 活動이 되었다. 피지컬 리뷰에이어 1929年 Review of Modern Physics와 1958年에 Physical Review Letters가 出版되었고, 피지컬 리뷰는 時間이 흐르면서 物理學 分野들이 擴張되고 提出되는 論文이 늘어나면서 다섯 섹션으로 나뉘었다.
