《Blue Valentine》은 1978年 7月 24日부터 8月 26日까지 캘리포니아州 할리우드 의 필름웨이/하이더 레코딩에서 6個의 세션으로 錄音되었다. 製作은 제2의 엔지니어인 본즈 하우 와 테리 뒤나半의 디스크 마스터링人 랄프 오스본이 맡았다.
