리하르트 쿠란트 ( 獨逸語 : Richard Courant , 1888年 1月 8日 ~ 1972年 1月 27日 )는 獨逸 帝國 胎生의 數學者 이다.

프로이센 (오늘날 폴란드 ) 루블리니에츠 ( 폴란드語 : Lubliniec )에서 태어났다. 어려서 쿠란트 家族은 크워츠코 ( 폴란드語 : Kłodzko ), 브로츠와프 를 거쳐 1905年 베를린 으로 移徙하였다. 쿠란트는 브로츠와프에 남아서, 브로츠와프 大學校 에 入學하였다. 그러나 科目이 너무 쉬워 當時 數學에서 最高의 名聲을 누렸던 괴팅겐 大學校 로 轉學하였다. 여기서 다비트 힐베르트 의 助敎가 되었고, 1910年 博士 學位를 授與받았다.

第1次 世界 大戰 에 參戰하였으나 入營한 뒤 곧 부상당해 實際로 많이 戰鬪에 參與하지 않았다. 前後 1919年 괴팅겐 大學校 數學 敎授 카를 룽게 의 딸 네리나 룽게( 獨逸語 : Nerina Runge )와 婚姻하였다.

1928年부터 1933年 사이 뮌스터 大學校 에 敎授로 있었다. 유대人이었던 쿠란트는 1933年 나치 獨逸 을 脫出해 [1] , 케임브리지 大學校 에 1年 있다가 뉴욕 大學校 로 갔고 여기서 1936年 敎授가 되었다. 뉴욕 大學校의 쿠란트 數學硏究所 는 쿠란트의 이름을 딴 것이다.

1972年 뉴로셸 에서 死亡하였다. [2]
