데이비드 매클렐런드

데이비드 클래런스 매클렐런드 ( 英語 : David Clarence McClelland , 1917年 5月 20日 ~ 1998年 4月 27日 )는 欲求理論으로 有名한 美國 의 心理學者 이다. 1950年代부터 1990年代에 많은 作品을 發表하였으며, 主題 痛覺 테스트(Thematic Apperception Test (TAT))라는 새로운 採點基準을 만들었다. 成就欲求(need achievement) 或은 N-成就理論(n-achievement theory)이라고 불리는 成就 動機 理論(Achievement Motivation Theory)으로 有名하다.

뉴욕 에서 태어난 매클렐런드는 1938年 웨슬리언 大學校 에서 藝術學 學位를, 1939年 미주리 大學校 에서 文學碩士를, 예일 大學校 에서 實驗心理學 博士學位를 받았다. 코네티컷 大學校 와 웨슬리언에서 敎授로 일하다 1956年 社會關係學科 心理學 議長으로서 하버드 大學校 에 들어갔다. 1987年에 보스턴 大學校 에 들어갔고 그곳에서의 貢獻으로 美國 心理學 協會賞을 받았다.
