그린月은 호스트 壁의 垂直面에 成長 媒介體가 支援되는 反面, 綠色 正面(facade)은 바닥에만 成長 媒介體가 있다는 點에서 '綠色 外觀'의 보다 確立된 垂直 錄畫 類型과 다르다. 綠色 外觀은 一般的으로 호스트 壁의 垂直面 위로 올라가는 덩굴 植物을 支援하는 反面 그린月은 다양한 植物 종을 受容할 수 있다. 그린月은 室內 또는 室外에 移植될 수 있다. 獨立型으로 設置하거나, 旣存 호스트 壁에 附着하거나, 다양한 크기로 適用된다.
1922年부터 1959年까지 일리노이 大學의 造景學 敎授였던
스탠리 하트 화이트
