伊拉克戰爭 中， AH-64阿?奇 ?巡邏位於巴格達東南的 底格里斯河 的 美國陸軍 士兵提供密接空中支援。
2015年3月12日，美軍第173空降旅503步兵團第二營B連的傘兵在 斯洛文尼亞 波斯托克納的波切克山脈進行近距離空中支援訓練時，所觀測到的美國空軍 F-16戰?戰?機 。

密接空中支援 （英文：Close Air Support，簡稱CAS）是一種由定翼機或旋翼機所進行的空中行動，屬於 密接支援 的一種，對抗接近友方地面或海面部隊的敵對目標。行動需要仔細整合各個部隊的火力及移動。雖稱「密接」，但進行支援的空中部隊可能與地面部隊保持一段長距離。 [1]

密接空中支援需要與地面部隊有精確的協調，而在先進的現代化軍隊中則有特別人員負責，如 聯合?火觀測員 （Joint Fires Observer s ）、 前進空中管制員 （ F orward A ir C ontroller s ）??已於2003年改稱 聯合終端攻擊管制員 （ J oint T erminal A ttack C ontroller s ）。
