Men and women take to the city's streets, May 8, 1945, to celebrate that the war in Europe is finally, officially, over. The day before, in Reims, France, German officer Alfred Jodl (later tried at Nuremburg, convicted, and hanged as a war criminal) signed documents of unconditional surrender.
