CBeebies to move
BBC children's channel CBeebies is to be moved out of BBC Television Centre in a move set to save the corporation around £500,000 a year.
The pre-school channel will move to Teddington Studios early next year.
It is understood that it currently costs more than £1million a year to hire studios from BBC Resources at Television Centre.
It is thought the cost of hiring studios at Teddington could be as much as half of that.
The move will see CBeebies presentation department uprooted and moved out to Teddington.
A BBC spokesman said: "CBeebies is moving its presentation department early next year as part of the drive to cut down costs per hour in BBC children's."
He said the money saved would be fed back into the CBeebies production budget.
The news follows an announcement earlier this week by BBC Children's controller Richard Deverell that Blue Peter has been moved into a smaller studio to save money.
The BBC is to cut the children's budget by around 10% over the next five years.
Deverell also confirmed that 88 jobs would have to go, taking children's staff levels down to 338. In 2005, there were 595 people in the department.
