Ellen Page

The knocked-up teen in Juno and self-proclaimed feminist talks older men, skinny-dipping, and castration.

Men say: If you get pregnant, I have as much say as you about what happens to the baby.
Ellen Page says: That’s true to a certain extent; however, it’s situational. If he said, “Yeah, I have a condom on,” but screwed her anyway, that’s different. If it was just an accident, then I think he has a say. Ultimately, it’s the female’s uterus and her decision whether or not she wants to carry a baby. Each situation differs, depending on the relationship and how it all went down.

Men say: It’s OK for older men to hang out with teenage girls.
Ellen Page says: I’ll work with a director that I really like and we’ll keep hanging out. He might be a 30-year-old guy, but it’s totally cool. Yet, the older-men-preying-on-younger-women thing is not attractive. Being in the film industry, I’ve worked with older, high-rolling men that think they’re the shit, hanging out with 17-year-old girls, and it’s disgusting. It’s like, Who do you think you’re fooling?

Men say: Boys mature at a different rate than girls.
Ellen Page says: That’s retarded. To me, gender-based facts are ridiculous. I’m not a huge fan of socialization based on gender. It frustrates me because I’ve always been a bit of a tomboy. When I was a kid I just played with action figures and climbed trees. And people always told me, “Be more of a girl.” And then in junior high there was this pressure to dress for the guys. It makes me wanna vomit.

Men say: Every female actor should be naked on camera, at least once.
Ellen Page says: I’m probably not the right person to ask ’cause I cut off a guy’s balls [in Hard Candy ]. There might be a project I really believe in, and a character that I really think should be naked in a scene. But for me to just take my clothes off because I haven’t done it before? Of course not. I’m no prude and I love to skinny-dip. But you’re vulnerable when you’re in a movie, versus at a lake in Nova Scotia.

Ellen’s character Kitty Pryde’s fight with Juggernaut in X3 features the line, “I’m Juggernaut, bitch!”—written in after it became a web catchphrase.
