Russell Dana "Russ" Feingold (born March 2, 1953) is an American politician and lawyer from the state of Wisconsin . He was a member of the Democratic Party of the United States Senate from 1993 to 2011 and a Wisconsin State Senator from 1983 to 1993.

On May 14, 2015 he announced his candidacy for a 2016 U.S. Senate run against the incumbent Senator, Ron Johnson . [1] He was defeated by Johnson in a rematch of their 2010 Senate race. [2]
