Busted
are an
English
pop rock
band from
Southend-on-Sea
,
Essex
. They started in 2002. The original members were
James Bourne
,
Matt Willis
and
Charlie Simpson
. All of them did singing. Simpson played keyboard, piano, harmonica, and drums. Bourne played guitar. Willis played drums. They released their first single "What I Go to School For" in the UK in September 2002 and it reached No.3. That month they released their first album,
Busted
. It reached No.2 in the UK Albums Chart. On 17 November 2003 they released their second studio album,
A Present for Everyone
. It went straight to No.2. In December 2004 Simpson left to focus on his band
Fightstar
. On January 14 the band broke up.

The band had five UK No.1s between 2002 and 2004. One of the No.1s was as part of Band Aid 20's 2004 "Do They Know It's Christmas?" single. In February 2004 the band got Best British Breakthrough Act and Best Pop Act at that year's
BRIT Awards
.
From 19 to 22 September 2013 Willis and Bourne performed with
McFly
at McFly's four 10th anniversary concerts at the
Royal Albert Hall
as "
McBusted
".
