Eagle Butte is the tribal headquarters of the
Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe
on the
Cheyenne River Indian Reservation
.

living together, 44.5% had a female householder with no husband present, 8.9% had a male householder with no wife present, and 27.3% were non-families. 24.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.43 and the average family size was 3.90.
The median age in the city was 22.8 years. 41.3% of residents were under the age of 18; 12.1% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 25.5% were from 25 to 44; 16.1% were from 45 to 64; and 4.9% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 47.3% male and 52.7% female.

living together, 26.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.9% were non-families. 33.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.72 and the average family size was 3.49.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 38.8% under the age of 18, 12.8% from 18 to 24, 25.8% from 25 to 44, 14.1% from 45 to 64, and 8.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 24 years. For every 100 females, there were 93.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 77.1 males.
As of 2000 the median income for a household in the city was $18,611, and the median income for a family was $20,313. Males had a median income of $23,125 versus $24,167 for females. The
