The voiced palatal lateral fricative is a type of consonantal sound, used in some spoken languages . The symbol in the International Phonetic Alphabet that represents this sound is ⟨ ?? ⟩, though in extIPA ??? ⟩ is preferred. The equivalent X-SAMPA symbol is L_r .

This sound is not known to occur as a phoneme in any language, but it does occur as an allophone of /?/ in Italian and Jebero . [1] [2]
