FAQs. What if I don’t have Wi-Fi or a data network? If you don’t have Wi-Fi or a data network while setting up your new phone, return to setup when a connection is available. What if I don’t have my old device? You can restore content, data and settings from an old device through Google One* . While setting up your device, skip setting up from another device and choose to restore data from an old device. Make sure you connect to a Wi-Fi network or data network and sign into your Google Account during device setup to view and select your available backups. While setting up my new Android phone, I was not shown a QR code or asked to set up my device wirelessly. Your new Android device may have a different version of Android. We recommend using a cable to transfer your data. If the new device was already set up and you would still like to transfer your data, you have to reset your device (if you reset your device, your content on your new device will be erased). For more info on transferring via cable, check out the Help Center . How do I get WhatsApp chats and data onto my new Android device? On your old device, go to settings within WhatsApp and select the option to backup your chats. When you open WhatsApp on your new device for the first time, follow the on-screen instructions until you are asked if you want to restore your chats from a previous backup.
