The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine declared May 8 as the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II of 1939-1945.

According to him, 317 parliamentarians supported the adoption of the law "On the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II of 1939-1945" (No. 9278).
The document stipulates that the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II of 1939-1945 will be marked annually on May 8.
May 8 will be a public holiday.
The law enters into force on the day following its publication.
As reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a draft law declaring May 8 as the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II. In addition, the President signed the Decree according to which Ukraine will celebrate Europe Day on May 9.
