Biography

Notables Project
Robert Heinlein is Notable.

Robert Heinlein was an American science fiction writer. Heinlein was named the first Science Fiction Writers Grand Master in 1974; won Hugo Awards for four of his novels; three of his works were awarded "Retro Hugos" (awards given retrospectively for works that were published before the Hugo Awards came into existence). In his fiction, Heinlein coined words that have become part of the English language, including "grok" and "waldo", and popularized the terms "TANSTAAFL" and space marine. [1]

Robert Anson Heinlein was born on July 7, 1907 to Rex Ivar Heinlein (an accountant) and Bam Lyle Heinlein , in Butler, Missouri. He was a 6th-generation German-American: a family tradition had it that Heinleins fought in every American war starting with the War of Independence. [1]

Dave Dardinger-2 was the RAH profile manager from 2015 to about 2020. He became unable to PM a few years ago, and was transferred to me as of yesterday. THANK YOU, Dave for all your work!

I am a 5th cousin to RAH (and lifelong fan). I have started to go through this profile and the others (I agreed to pick up the other relatives that Dave was PM for, which totals 29 and includes Lyle, Evans, Sayers, Vandevender, Heinlein, and Hineline) to determine gaps in data, such as DOD, graves, census, and marriage certs. I will start with filling in the census gaps and see if any relatives are missing, and welcome any and all help and suggestions.

I will be at the annual Heinlein Society meeting at Balticon in Baltimore on May 25 in case any Wikiteers will be there.
