The entertainment news website Digital Spy has hired David Moynihan from
NME
.com to be its editor.
Moynihan will take over duties from Neil Wilkes, the Digital Spy co-founder and longstanding editor, in March next year.
Wilkes, who co-founded Digital Spy in early 1999, is
to leave the company next year
, it was announced in September. He will remain until March to ensure a smooth transition period.
Moynihan joined NME.com as editor in October 2007 from FHM, where he had the same role. Earlier this year, NME.com won the
AOP award for consumer website of the year
.
In May, Digital Spy was given its
first major website overhaul in four years
, following investment from Hachette Filipacchi, the publisher of Red, Elle and Inside Soap. Wilkes sold the site to Hachette Filipacchi in 2008.
