I had a great feeling right at the start. The pitch was good to bat on, a used pitch. Initially wanted to take some time, assess, and see where we go from there.

This World Cup, the first game against South Africa the conditions were challenging, last time against England too, the pitch wasn't coming onto the bat as I would have liked and they used the conditions well. Batting first, there's no scoreboard conditions so we wanted to come out and be positive.

I was lucky early on [dropped by Iqbal] but fortune favours the brave I guess. I never think about the shorter boundary when I bat, if I'm good touch then my game is about piercing the field.

My mantra is whatever happened in the past, keep it there. That's what I'm trying to do. It's critical that guys in-form continue that form.

Y orker again! Spectacular bowling at the end from Bumrah as  India win by 28 runs .

That's India qualified for the semi-finals, while Bangladesh are out with one game to go.

B umrah's last over. All rests on Shaifuddin. Rubel gets him back on strike with a single. Four down the ground! Shaifuddin gets to 50, top effort down by the rope to cut it off, but it was too powerful for Kohli.

F our more from Shaifuddin racing away square, before Pandya just misses with a direct hit against Shaifuddin! Single for Shabbir.

Those slow bouncers really working for Pandya though.

I n the air from Shaifuddin but over the head of fine leg! Odd over: one wide, two dots, one single and then a boundary for Shabbir past midwicket. Interesting.

S habbir chasing after a short one with his bat and finds the gap between mid-on and midwicket for four! Then a fine edge adds another four. That will annoy Shami.

Single brings up the 200 and then Shaifuddin cracks one over the top of Shami for four more! Expensive over, 13 runs from four balls. Bouncer from Shami, taking out some frustration.

S ingle for Shakib. Mosaddek with soft hands watches the ball float over the cover fielders and drop safe. Shakib then has to jump to get after a single towards midwicket, pace right off the ball. Bottom edge then doesn't carry to Dhoni!

M osaddek off the mark with a single. Das properly skied that. Big blow for the run chase.

O h hello . The first six of the innings, from Das, clubbed over mid-on! 

But then Das doesn't get hold of the pull shot on the short ball and it drops straight to Karthik at midwicket! Another one gone.  FOW 162/4

N early  another  run out chance, but Shakib gets home this time just, sliding on his belly, bat outstretched to get two runs. Kohli thought he had him. 150 up for Bangladesh with those two runs.

 Couple of singles, before Shakib on the pull shot adds two. Very good over in fact, nine from it with Shakib playing well.

D as might be gone! Thrown in from deep midwicket, reviewed... oh he's well safe before Dhoni can get the ball on the stumps. A scare though.

Shakib beats Kohli! Four runs, Kohli made a right hash of that at mid-off, bounced out of the practice surface past him. Hard running to bring up Shakib's 50! It's come off 58 balls.

T wo from Das, and then a sniff of a run out, direct hit by Bumrah and he might have been gone! Safe for now. Another two, this time past point, to take him to six from the over.

T wo singles and then a nice pull shot by Das is cut off well to save two runs by Rahul. Looked for all money like a boundary. Single then noodled to third man.

C ouple of singles off that Chahal over. 188 needed off 25 overs now we're at halfway.

D as off the mark with a couple of singles. Last two wickets have seen the ball sail exactly where Virat Kohli wanted it to go for two easy catches. Better performance today from the India captain.

C hahal continuing to toil. After a Shakid single, Mushfiqur waits and cuts a boundary past backward point.

But his tough spell ends with a wicket! Failed sweep by Mushfiqur and the man is there at midwicket. Chahal with a "classy" wave to Mushfiqur as he leaves the field.   FOW 121/3

O h that is good. First boundary for Shakib in a while, cut for four past third man. Adds a single in the same direction.

Two more singles before Mushfiqur pulls a short ball, could be two, just one. Eight from the over before the last... glanced square for another single.

C ouple of singles brings the 100 up for Bangladesh. Not a bad chase this. Partnership building momentum with six off the last over.

C ouple of dots before a square single by Shakib. Then Mushfiqur beats fine leg for four more! Light nudge, paddled away. 

And four more! Finds the short boundary Mushfiqur, well played, couple of bounces and meets the rope by midwicket. Ten off the over.

Edged, very fine, four runs! Bit fortunate. Second slip if there been one might have been close. Shakib then pulls a single, nine from the over.

You will be stunned to know that Jadeja is on as a sub.

T he slow start of a partnership with four singles. These two simply must hang around.

E dge from Mushfiqur but no slips are home. He's off the mark though with a single.

W ide from Pandya but he follows it up by smacking the ball straight to Kohli at extra cover! The India captain responds with a withering "That's out!", raising his finger, still aggrieved by the earlier review moment (which actually wasn't out). Both openers gone.  FOW 74/2

U p and over mid-off from Soumya for four! Well played. Followed by a single. Shakib off the last ball gets enough under it to reach the boundary at deep extra cover. Nine off Shami's over.

C hahal on for spin, Shakib reads the bad ball just paddles it along for four down to long leg. He then adds two more past backwards square.

I nteresting: Dhoni has left the field, Pant on gloves duty. Soumya for four! Fine, fine drive on the up through covers. 

Big shout from Shami, coming round the wicket so big angle... Kohli reviews with a couple of seconds to go!

Now that's interesting - in real time it looked like there was no bat, but on review there's not evidence from the third umpire to overturn the decision given it looks like pad and bat at the same time. Personally thought Soumya never got his bat to it.

F ive runs after a missed attempt at a direct hit leads to overthrows! Both batsmen under real pressure though in these early stages. No one backing up for Pandya's throw.

B etter from Bhuvneshwar, little respite for Tamim. Two singles end the over, finishing the run of 10 dots.

N iiiiice by Bumrah. Bowling to the left-hander, movement away, just missed the stumps. Now Bumrah beats the outside edge. Soumya having no fun. Maiden.

H e might struggle with the catches but man, Tamim can bat. Really well-timed square drive. Then adds two. Single for Soumya as well.

L istened to Michael Vaughan last night talking about the Indian bowling machine - Bhuvneshwar and Bumrah open, then the double spin - and it's like one of those disaster movies where you know the outcome will be grizzly. Bangladesh know what's coming, but can they stop it? 

Three dots for Bumrah and then that's very nice off the pads, pushed past midwicket for a boundary! Beats point off the last for another four - that's positive.

B huvneshwar to open the bowling. Two dots then a slower effort swinging away, lures a swing, no edge though. Full cordon waiting.

Lovely cover drive by Dhoni for four. Shaifuddin not finding the yorker, and punished. Dhoni then goes for the sweep and misses. But he then clubs a poor ball for four through the covers too. Last over coming up.

D honi chips a single to third man and that brings up 300. Three singles from the over.

S lower ball, Karthik up in the air, gone at midwicket! Well disguised delivery and an easy catch.  FOW 298/6

V intage from Dhoni. Barely moves his feet and just glides that four to deep backward point. Followed by a single but a ricochet off the stumps actually turns it into two.

N o 50 for Pant! Shakib strikes, Pant pulling the ball right towards the waiting man Soumya - it actually pops out of his hands but comes off his shoulder and is eventually grabbed.  FOW 277/5

F our leg byes as the ball beats Pant, the keeper and everyone to the rope. Swing and a miss, slow ball from Rubel at 74mph luring Pant into a swing. He doesn't want to hang about, clearly. Does get something with a third man single.

Shakib versus Dhoni seems like a battle the spinner can win. Two dots to the former skipper, three runs off the over.

P ant in good touch, 42 off 29 with a four beating the man coming around at deep square leg. Mustafizir then with a wide after changing his line.

Good timing from Dhoni, quick outfield but it's stopped eventually for three. Single by Pant to keep strike.

M ore Shakib spin, perhaps he can suppress Pant. Four singles a sign of achieving that, good over.

P ant gets enough on that cut to beat the cover fielders - four. He's warming up, lovely pull shot for four more! 

Oh that is good, super cut beats backward point for four more! Three boundaries in a row for Pant. Remind me why he wasn't initially picked? Deep square leg comes round to end the run, single. Dhoni off the mark with on run, India over the 250 mark.

P ant with an extraordinary shot, clipping the ball back over his shoulder and finding the fine leg gap. Easy two for Kohli towards midwicket, sandwiched by two singles. Pant beats midwicket off the last to add two more.

S uperb placement by Kohli. Small step forward, face of the bat open and whips it to the right of mid-on.

Pant unlikely to stay quiet and he sweeps very well to long leg for four, deep fielder unable to get across. Single makes it 10 from the over.

U p and over the field for a single by Pant, cut off by the deep fielder. Single from Kohli. Straighter delivery, glanced square by Pant. Kohli then whips one off his toes to get two, running down to square leg. Six off the over in the end.

O ne leg bye, but too straight by Rubel. Needs more of those balls that led to the wicket, shaping towards off stump.

Oh that's nice. Placed perfectly through the gap on the leg side for four, Mortaza unable to get there at midwicket for the save.

Started with a wide but this has been some good bowling since then... until Pant clobs him high up into the stands for  six!  Four dots preceded that. India over 200. Pant keeps strike with a single.

N ice, nice, nice from Kohli, driven down the ground. Bit fuller, beats the bowler, gone in a flash for four. Single added past square leg.

S ingle from Rahul - Rohit had added a four beating deep square leg before fell. The shot that led to his wicket looked a little tired in hindsight.

F ive singles from the over. Where does the breakthrough come from for Bangladesh? Rohit's looking at maybe a double ton here.

S ingle to long-on from Rahul, then one to mid-on from Rohit. Big old shout off the last for an edge but the umpires aren't interested, couldn't hear a sound to be honest. On India go, steamrolling towards a score of 300 plus.

Q uieter over from Rubel, giving up only four runs. Rohit sitting on 92 off 77. Remember, he was dropped on nine.

C an't overstate this enough: Rohit is playing some beautiful shots. Six right back over the bowler's head down the ground, holds his pose. The 300th six of the tournament is a gem. That's India's 150.

R ahul's in the box seat here, adds a single and watching Rohit go to work. Another big shot, this time for four towards that short boundary. Adds a single and Rohit is now the top scorer at the Cricket World Cup on 520, overtaking David Warner.

Mosaddek absolutely pummeled in this over, giving up 13 with Rohit breaking his bat, including a leg-side boundary.

H igh, high in the air by Rohit but it drops short of the midwicket boundary like a stone, two runs. Then a single. Slight hesitation off the lat but they run hard to add another run.

A ll aboard the single train, four of them, until Rohit goes for a bit shot and doesn't quite connect, and even that creates a single. In the air back to Mosaddek off the last but it doesn't carry! Not really a chance, but a hint of something maybe.

N ice drive down the ground by Rahul, delivery a little loose by Rubel with his first ball and away it goes. Single squeezes past midwicket for Rahil to move to 50! It's come off 57 balls.

India on Nelson... was that an edge?! No, but, we all got a little bit excited. Rahul steers us off it with a single, Rohit adds one too, and then that's a sumptuous cover drive by Rahil! A dozen from Rubel's first over, oh boy.

M osaddek in for a bowl. Sweep for two by Rohit brings up the 100 for India. Mosaddek can't quite stop a straight drive, giving up a single. Good strike rotation, four singles to end the over.

R ahul goes for the sweep, doesn't get it, half a shout but outside the line. Then tries to cut a ball towards point but it's very well cut off by Sabbir.

Sweep now from Rohit but there's a man deep square leg, just a single. Better bowling.

Rahul now with the big shot! Mortaza clumped over mid-on for  six , 84m. Too easy really. Then adds three after finding the gap past midwicket, just about cut off to stop a boundary.

Looks cloudy now over Edgbaston, might add some swing.

S hakib has started well but Rohit attacks him there, swept for  six  over the short midwicket boundary. A single hen takes him to yet another ODI 50, this time off 45 balls.

Nice, patient shot by Rahul rocking onto his back foot before cutting a single towards deep cover. Over ends with another Rohit single, nine off the over.

B it of pressure on Rahul - no one was going to find replacing Shikhar Darwan easy - but he's started well enough. Single, then Rohit adds two through the covers. Four off the over.

S hakib trying to continue that trend of slowing India down with his spin. One single off the over.

M ortaza back into the action. Does well, just two off the over. Run rate hovering above six an over.

T ime for some spin and Shakib with a nice second ball, turn and bounce giving Rohit pause for thought. Shakib very lively indeed actually, superb over, India working hard for that one single (plus a wide). Why pick only one spinner?

F our more! Punched by Rahul through the line where mid-off is missing, just past the bowler. Rohit in total control, opens the face and the ball rolls off for another boundary to third man. Adds a single. Drinks break.

Reminder of how ridiculously good Rohit is in this format. Look at the names!

I 'm still thinking about that Iqbal drop, so imagine what's going through his head out there.

Full delivery (no ball called) and Rohit obliges, chopping a four past extra cover. Four fielders on that off-side and he's threaded the ball through. Partnership hits 52 off 51 balls.

And four more! Third man can't stop that shot by Rohit, who is starting to show off  his repertoire, opening the face of his bat and watching that one race away. Two singles to round off another damaging over for Bangladesh.

C ouple of singles before Rahul punishes a poor ball by Shaifuddin, nudging a four past long leg. Follows it up with a delightful stroke to the left of mid-off, racing away for four more. Expensive over, shipping 11 runs.

C hopped by Rohit Sharma to third man for a boundary. Well over fielders, one bounce, four runs. He's warming up. Mustafizur settles him down with a slower ball.

Rohit clips a single to midwicket, Rahul then doing the same. 

R ohit the merciless. Screams a six 82m over extra cover. Don't bowl that short, he'll eat it up. Good footwork and it goes a long way.

Two for Rahul before he sees a cover drive blocked for no run, nine off the over.

G ood from Mustafizur, three dots, before Rohit hits up in the air but it's dropped by Iqbal! That is unforgivable down at deep midwicket, he was jogging around to it, looked an easy one. That's a killer against in-form Sharma.

S haifuddin starting well. Second ball stays low, Rahul working hard to get his bat out the way, mis-read the length. 

Four dots but then Rahul finds the gap well for four after a horrendous misfield by Shakib! Should have been just two. Good over though.

T hought the crowd sounded a little quiet - they've woken up now. Early (earliest possible really) bowling change for Bangladesh, Mustafizur with the ball.

Rahul ushers a short ball to third man for a single but three dots follow before Rohit goes up in the air towards leg gully, but it drops short, single.

Rahul beats the man at backward point for one more.

S haifuddin from the other end and already rolling out the slower deliveries. Better over too, just the one from it off the last, a single dabbed square.

M ortaza is not the quickest, searching for some swing. Rahul off the mark with a single towards square. No swing there yet, Mortaza hovering around 78mph and delivers a wide.

Rohit picks that one up though! Six towards the short boundary (hope that's alright, Virat) at deep square leg. Two off the last for a good first over by India.

India have also made two changes: Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Dinesh Karthik come in, Kuldeep Yadav and Kedar Jadhav are out.

And it's two changes for Bangladesh as well. Mahmudullah Riyad is not fit, replaced by Sabbir Rahman, while Rubel Hossain comes in for Mehidy Hasan.

40! Where is it all going? It'll be over before we know it.

I ndia have another chance to secure a semi-final spot in the Cricket World Cup when Virat Kohli's team play Bangladesh at Edgbaston today.

Second-place India, which lost for the first time against England on Sunday, have 11 points from seven games and will advance with a win.

If Bangladesh beat two-time champions India, they can move level with fifth-place Pakistan on nine points - one point behind fourth-place England. Bangladesh can't advance if they lose.

Bangladesh and Pakistan meet in their last group game at Lord's on Friday. India's final group match is against Sri Lanka at Headingley on Saturday.

India have won the last four ODIs against Bangladesh. The teams have played each other three times at the World Cup so far with Bangladesh winning in 2007 followed by victories for India in 2011 and 2015. Bangladesh and India have met once before in an ODI at Edgbaston when India won by nine wickets in the 2017 Champions Trophy with big scores from Rohit Sharma and Kohli.

The forecast is for a mild, sunny day.
