SPACE India
World Space Week (WSW) 2023 is an important international event celebrated since 1999, according to a United Nations (UN) resolution. The week-long celebrations held from October 4 to 10 of every year, commemorate two milestones in Space exploration; the 4th October marking the launch of the first man-made satellite, Sputnik-1 in 1957, and the 10th October marking the day on which the UN declaration for peaceful uses of outer Space came into force in 1967.
SPACE celebrates WSW 2023 in October, every year:
SPACE encourages everybody to celebrate World Space Week all the way up to the 3rd week of October. We are organising a competition this WSW, the following are:
Every year, World Space Week Association selects a theme as a guide for celebration. The theme for WSW 2023, “Space and Entrepreneurship” , recognizes the growing significance of the commercial space industry in space, and the increasing opportunities for space entrepreneurship and new benefits of space developed by space entrepreneurs. With miniaturization and decreasing launch costs, it is now possible for a small business to build and launch a small satellite, and for entrepreneurs to create valuable new data products for governments and industry.
The growth of World Space Week reflects widespread acceptance of this synchronized time frame to celebrate space, inspire students using space, and promote space programs, policies, and organizations. WSW 2023 will inspire students worldwide to study STEM and business, and offer space companies the opportunity to recruit the workforce needed for the expanding commercial space industry. It will also serve as a forum for important discussions on the transition of Low Earth Orbit to a more entrepreneurial ecosystem.
