K-pop star Chungha has set her sights on the United States market after signing a contract with a major American talent agency, her South Korean agency has announced.
“Chungha recently signed an agreement with ICM Partners, one of the top three global agencies in the US, and is moving to make inroads into the US market,” MNH Entertainment said.
Headquartered in Los Angeles, ICM Partners is a talent and literary agency, and represents or has represented musicians such as Nicki Minaj, Beyonce and Khalid, and film stars including Orlando Bloom and Megan Fox.
MNH quoted Jon Pleeter, vice-president of ICM, as saying that Chungha, with her musical talent and English communication skills, had the potential to succeed as a pop singer or Hollywood actress in the US.
Chungha made her debut in 2016 as a member of I.O.I, a project girl band formed through a music survival show. After I.O.I’s disbandment, she expanded her career as a solo artist. She has had a string of hits, including
