New Zealand 1967
There was no national club championship but the first major regional
league, the Northern League, was played. The Northern League became
a stepping stone (together with the the Central League and Southern League,
launched the following year) to the National League, which began its life
in 1970.
Chatham Cup
, a New Zealand FA Cup style competition, was also played
(see below).

Central League
--------------
To be made up of teams from the following provinces:
Taranaki, Wanganui, Manawatu, Poverty Bay, Hawke's Bay, Wairarapa,
Wellington, Nelson and Marlborough.
The official Central League was launched in 1968,
but a number of proto-regional leagues did exist
in 1967. Of those, the Central District League
became the direct fore-runner of the Central League.
Central District League
In 1966, Eastern Union applied to join the Western League.
Wanganui opposed this entry resulting with all the other
provincial association withdrawing from the Western League
and creating the Central District League, along with Poverty
Bay (Eastern Union). Wanganui did not enter the Central
District League.
