I am happy to be one of your mods and would like to thank for coming up with this idea, and really putting forth effort to reach out to the community concerning the Playstation family of machines.

As we grow, and (hopefully) become a helpful force within reddit, specifically when other users come in to help. There are some concerns I have, as well as rules we need to have in place to protect people within our community, and the people that may frequent this subreddit.

• PERSONAL INFORMATION Mods will NEVER, EVER, FOR ANY REASON ask you for your personal information to "help" with your issue. For that matter, no user will either, if they do, please send your mods a message with their username, and a copy-paste or screenshot to us with what was asked for. With that said, DO NOT post your personal information on this sub or in private messages. This includes passwords, real names, mailing address, or Credit Card info. If you want to post your PSN, that is up to you, but there shouldn't be many situations that necessitate it.

Note: in addition to personal information, no one will offer to "fix it for you" if you send them your machine. The only times this should ever come up is by Sony themselves after they attempt to troubleshoot your issue over the phone, chat, etc. Otherwise, if someone here tells you this, then they are a scammer, and you should report them immediately. I know, I know, common sense right? But you'd be shocked what would happen if it wasn't said.

• SPAM, MEMES, GAMEPLAY VIDEOS, AND OFF-TOPIC DISCUSSION There are literally hundreds, if not thousands of subs that allow these, please keep it professional here. If an issue is better to explain in a picture, screen-shot, or gameplay video, it is welcome, of course as long as it's explained. Spam/Gameplay videos/Memes/Off-Topics will be deleted without warning, and there will be no explanation given.

• USER ABUSE Keep in mind that people around the globe could be posting here, and English may not be their native tongue. We don't need corrective circle-jerking, grammar and spelling nazis. This needs to be a place where users feel comfortable and welcome, being a prick will degrade that image. There is no elitism here. We all love the Sony line of game machines, that is why we are here. Flaming, attacking, insulting or general douche-baggery will not be tolerated. There will be no "Xbox One versus Playstation 4" or "PC is better, lol" bullshit happening here. Mods will handle these on a case by case basis, but we cannot if we aren't told about it. Remember, we are human, and cannot be here 24/7.

• WARRANTY CHECK Be sure to check if doing something to your machine will potentially void the warranty. Outside of the PS3 and PS4 HDD replacements, any other tampering could cause issues with any existing warranty. PS4 users especially, your console is new, everyone who has purchased one since launch has a one year manufacturer's warranty. If you choose to open up your machine(s) for any reason further than HDD replacement, you do so at your own risk, accepts no responsibilities for damages, not following instructions, or breakage caused.

• KNOW YOUR LIMITS I cannot encourage this enough, please save yourself a headache and not end up with a broken piece of hardware or software. If the solution is "over your head" (above your technical ability) be honest with yourself about it. Call tech support, or pony up the money to get it repaired professionally. Know your limits before you try to do something yourself.

• MODDING Modding is not going to be discussed here, modding your machine violates many parts of Sony's End User License Agreement, and is considered illegal in many cases. Posts, instructions, or explanations on modifying a console's hardware or software will be deleted, and the user banned from this sub. Consider this a warning, as there will not be a second chance. Aesthetic (modding the case to look awesome) modding is ok, as long as you post with instructions.

• HARDWARE Ensure the title of your post starts with the machine or hardware you are looking for help with in brackets ([PS4], [PS3], [Vita]). This will allow users to know what they are getting into before they go in to help you. Right after that, put the title of the game or application along with a brief description.

• UPVOTES/DOWNVOTES We need to keep it friendly here, so downvoting someone because something may have been asked and solved already does absolutely nothing. Be a good redditor and point them in the right direction. You will never see a downvote out of us for posting here. I personally use upvotes to signify that I have attempted to respond to an issue, and I am pretty good about upvoting responses. There are no stupid questions here, just stupid if you don't ask.

• LET US KNOW!! If a problem you are having has been fixed, or a solution has been found, whether it be by someone here, or if you have discovered or found the solution by another means, please post it! This will help the community in the long term by spreading the word. We all hate calling tech support, at least I know I do, so if you know, let it be known.

As mentioned above, if you are struggling, the only stupid question is the one you don't ask. You will not be judged or berated here, and it is our duty to stop it if you are. We are here, and we want you to be able to come here and request information without problems from other users.

I get alot of artifacts or even complete game freezes and crashes in games that are a little bit graphics demanding, even in farming sim and fifa 24.. Can it be due to liquid metal and should i send it to the repair shop or is the apu defective?

So literally like last month my iPhone hotspot just stopped working for the PlayStation I thought maybe it was bc it needed to be updated but that didn’t change anything, I’ve done all the resetting, turning on maximise thingy just nothing will work. I live kinda rural so hotspot is what works for me :((

im gonna just get right to the point so my ps4 accidentally fell off my stand and i tried to plug it back up etc but my tv said its not connecting etc i tried to hold it and wait to hear two beep's then the light turned white nd i looked it up on tiktok and it keep saying do this and that and honestly nothing is working can yall plz help me .. i just got it

So whenever i try to play an online game with a ps5 version, the game just freezes. I can play ps5 offline games and ps4 online games perfectly fine. But when i try to play something like FC24 or GTA Online with the ps5 version, they just freeze. If i try both these games with the ps4 version, then it works fine. Why is that?

This has been happening for about a month now, it beeps and blinks blue but it doesn’t stay blue, it just turns off. I checked for an overheating, cleared dust, cleaned it but it still doesn’t turn on. But sometimes it turns on, and I can play for a while until I turn it off and then I can’t turn it on for a couple days. Can I get some help, please?

While playing an online game, (it only happens with online games) the game stops as if I lose the internet connection, then I exit and close the app and I see that most of the things (games covers and names, Spotify stutters and freezes, friends won't load, online apps won't open, etc.) are not loading, so I check the internet connection, In the first internet check the PS4 detects the SSID but doesn't load the rest, giving me the error CE-33983-6, so I try a second time, this time it doesn't even detect the ssid and it doesn't matter how long I wait but nothing happens, and the controller input starts to delay, Then I am forced to turn it off during the test and if I put it in sleep mode most of the time it makes 3 beeps and the screen goes black, and then goes to sleep.

I formatted the ps4, changed the thermal paste and the hard disk but nothing, (the hard disk belonged to a friend of mine who keeps many of them in a box, so I assume they are a little used). With the old hard disk, during the second connection check, the audio on the PS4 started to lag.

While I was disassembling the PS4, I found a black-brown part on the motherboard, as if it were burnt, but I think that wasn't the problem, because in my opinion it would have caused more serious damage, and it's quite small.

Just like the title says, I have an original launch edition PS3. I had it reballed by "reballing genius" a couple years ago. Original problem was that it froze up after being on for a few hours. Apparently this is typical of this model PS3

After reballing, I used it for a few hours to double check the quality of the repair, previous problems were alleviated. Then it went into storage while I moved between houses and dealt with family issues.

Now now the unit turns on, and immediately turns off, with no video output. The green power LED blinks.

The unit is cool to the touch, and there is no dust blocking the fan. It is in a well ventilated area.

EDIT: I have removed the top cover of the unit and the power supply. The capacitors inside the power supply are Nichicon, which I know is a reputable quality brand. They do not appear to be bulging, nor is there any visible electrolyte leakage.

It says storage not available and I don't know what to do. Can I just buy a new hard drive and it'll work?

So I have been dealing with stick drift on my ps5 controller and I was looking at a tutorial on yt and the guy reckomended using alcohol or a cheap perfume to help get rid of dirt in controller. I did this including blowing method (cheap perfume not alchahol). At first it worked and my controllers stick drift was gone but now a few minutes later my controller fully died (was on full charge before). It might have been due to I sprayed too much perfume on the q tip.

Are there any soloutions to fix this?

Any parts i can buy to swap in my controller for what might be broken or is my controller completely broken no saving it?

I'll be explaining this in depth providing as much info as I can to prevent anyone from suggesting things I've already tried...

Earlier today I loaded Spider-Man 2 into my ps5 because it's been a while since I've played it. (FYI it was deleted from my library, an important detail for later). After a minute, the icon displayed a question mark and said below; "Can't recognize the disc. Make sure it's not damaged or dirty, and that it's not inserted upside down." Even tho I've had this for years, I entertained the idea that I completely forgot which way to put it in, but no, it said the same thing when placed upside down. I thought it was the disc itself, so I put in Lies of P ps5 (also deleted a while ago from my library) into my console as well, but it displayed the exact same thing. When the disc is inside, it makes a weird noise at one point, as if its about to eject, but instead just moves around inside.

First off, my ps5 is updated to the latest version. I have over 200 gb free of space, so it's nothing simple like that. I also put it into safe mode, cleared the system software cashe, and then also rebuilt the database. So I've tried basically everything I can think of/what people have been saying to do online.

I took apart my ps5, carefully taking it apart while watching a tutorial online. I cleaned up all the dust, never actually opening the disc drive itself, but I cleaned up bunch of other things (i know how dumb this sounds now btw, that i cleaned everything but inside it. It's just very scary to take apart so i didn't want to chance it).

SIDE NOTE: This may be important but I have no idea tbh. I own avatar frontiers of pandora and occasionally play it online with my brother (always installed in library and not deleted). About a couple weeks ago... and i know this will be VERY hard to believe... I played Avatar and realized that I never put the disc inside. Looking back, that was the last disc I put inside my ps5 to play, and now I no longer need the disc to play it. I know it sounds impossible, but I continue to play it with my brother without the disc inside. HOWEVER, when I put the disc inside, it sounds the same thing to when I put in other discs; "Can't recognize the disc. Make sure it's not damaged or dirty, and that it's not inserted upside down"... which is stupid because the game is literally installed.

Please offer suggestions, I have no idea what to do. Do I need to buy a whole ass new ps5 disc? This is been eating away at my anxiety all day just cuz the ps5 is only 2 1/2 years old. If it really is broken, can I buy a new disc drive and put it inside the ps5 to fix it??? Like is that how ps5 disc consoles work? Just please help :/

After not using my PS4 for a few months, my PS4 says all of my controllers are low battery. I even charged my controllers but the orange light doesn’t turn on and my PS4 still says they’re low battery. I’ve powered off my PS4 and plugged the controllers into it with a cable, but I’ve had no luck. Does anyone know if this is a problem with the console, controllers, or both? Thanks.

Ps4 to loud?

Hi guys , this is my first time posting on reddit but ive come here since i dont know what to do… My brother recently gave me his ps4 and the fan is so loud even in rest mode . I know i should clean it but im scared to to it myself and there are no trustworthy places nearby that can do it for me, so i wanna know if i should only leave the ps4 turned completely off or if its best to leave it in rest mode , despite the noise (so no more dust gets in) thanks for any help/advice!!

Today I run into a very weird problem with my PS4. I was playing eafc for a couple of hours and then decided to check Fortnite's new songs. It needed an update, so as usual I pressed the button to start the update and went to YouTube as it was updating. As soon as the update was finished I started the application ( Fortnite ). After seeing what was on the item shop and just browsing for a couple of minutes I selected the main stage and started the game mode. The second it said connecting the application closed and a message appeared saying the application is corrupted and I needed to delete the game and download it again from the library, I ignored it and started the application again, and the same thing happened, so I did exactly what the message said. After I started downloading the game I started eafc again and the same message appeared ( It should be worth mentioning that this hasn't happened before ). So I restarted the PS4 and started eafc again and the same thing happened, so I decided to start another game and it said cannot start the application ( and I tried with every single game I had downloaded, and no application could start ). I have no idea why, have I been hacked? Is the PS4 broken? I don't know what to do.

On my profile I can’t seem to hide just the shared tab without hiding everything else.

My PS5 controller refuses to open and charge. I’ve been connecting it for a while to my PC to play some games on steam and it was working perfectly. However today, it’s just not working, not opening nor charging. I tried resetting it with the pin hole but still not working. At the beginning it connected to my pc but suddenly it disconnect so I thought the battery died, but when I tried charging it the charging lights wouldn’t appear. I even tried using another usb c cable but still isn’t working. The controller did heat up a little bit when i connected it to the USB cable but that’s it. And whenever i connect it to the USB cable the charging light does not show up. I tried connecting it via Bluetooth on PC by holding the ps button and the share button but it doesnt work at all. please help

I have a Hisense 1440p monitor, my ps5 says no devices connected support 1440p. But it is letting me select 2160p which my monitor does not do. I'm very confused.

I restarted the ps5, the tv is up to date, and the HDMI is from sony.

I've seen this issue elsewhere but haven't found a fix, do any of you guys know a fix?

I am already aware that u can turn the setting “include mic audio” on or off. But that doesnt fix the issue with already saved clips. I wanted to remove them because i wanted to upload a couple clips, but the mic audio affects the gameplay audio.

I was sharing a PSN account my ex (two different users), He bought me my own PlayStation and I'm transferring the save data rn. When I'm finished is there anyway I can continue to use my saved data and play on my own PSN account? I understand I might have to repurchase games and content but will I be able to pick up where I left off in game? If so how?
