Regional News Adam Pascal Directing Long Island Something Rotten!

Pascal played a rock-star Shakespeare during the musical's original Broadway run and first national tour.

Adam Pascal is back to direct productions of musicals he's appeared in on Broadway. After staging Jonathan Larson's  Rent at his Long Island hometown's community theatre From Stage to Screen last year, Pascal is returning to direct a new production of  Something Rotten! Pascal starred as Shakespeare during the musical's original Broadway run and on its first national tour.

Performances in Long Island will run August 2?4. The theatre is currently casting, with open calls planned for May 20 and 21. Those interested in auditioning should email [email protected] .

The theatre revealed the upcoming production on Instagram.

Featuring a book by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O'Farrell and a score by Kirkpatrick and Wayne Kirkpatrick ( Mrs. Doubtfire ),  Something Rotten! follows two brothers trying to make theatre in the shadow of Elizabethan playwriting superstar William Shakespeare. They end up inventing the world's first musical. The piece premiered on Broadway in 2015, earning 10 Tony Award nominations including Best Musical.

Along with creating the role of Roger in the original production of Jonathan Larson's landmark rock musical  Rent , Pascal has appeared on Broadway in Cabaret Aida Memphis Chicago Something Rotten! Disaster! , and  Pretty Woman: The Musical .

This production of  Something Rotten! is being licensed by Music Theatre International .
