Why I chose to read this book:
1. I bought my hardcopy from a thrift shop several years ago because I was intrigued by this event; and,
2. even though this book's message has stayed with me for a long time, I couldn't remember the title! Recently, I found my copy in my parents' collection of books, so here is my review:

Praises:
1. the authors wrote a very comprehensive view of this horrific tragedy:
- on June 23, 1985, Air India Flight 182 departed from Vancouver, B.C. with 329 passengers and crew on board (most were women and children who were Canadian citizens);
- just off the southwest coast of Ireland, enroute to India, a bomb exploded on the plane, killing everyone on board;
- I was especially moved by the intense search for the remains and debris in the deep ocean waters while investigators notified next of kin;
- this act of terror was planned and executed by Canadian Sikh extremists (known as Khalistanis) to avenge the 1984 invasion of the Golden Temple by the Indian Army in Amritsar, India and the murder of at least 500 Sikh rebels;
- the legal and political fallout that ensued when Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney sent condolences to India , not recognizing that the majority of the victims were Canadian citizens ! and,
2. included are several pages of maps and black & white photos.

Niggle:
This book lacks an Index and a Bibliography ! For a nonfiction piece of work, this is not acceptable, in my opinion.

Overall Thoughts:
This is still considered the worst terrorist attack in Canadian history! I'm sure many GR members are unaware of this terrible disaster for a variety of reasons, but if you would like to learn more, then I highly recommend this book.
