Two
lifeboat
teams paired up to save a kayaker who went missing while out paddling on the Scots coast.
The terrifying incident took place on Friday, May 24 when the
water sports
enthusiast did not come home from Newburgh where he had been paddling when expected and an urgent search was launched.
The
Royal National Lifeboat Institution
teams from
Broughty Ferry and Angus & Dundee,
along with the Scottish Ambulance Service and chopper, were called to the scene.
Luckily the kayaker was spotted and had become stuck due to falling tides but it could have been a very different story.
RNLI Broughty Ferry shared the dangerous tale on their Facebook page and wrote: "Last night at 8.15pm both

Lifeboats were launched in response to reports of a missing kayaker.
"The kayaker had been paddling between Newburgh to Balmerino and had been due back around 6.30pm.
"
HM Coastguard - Angus & Dundee
teams,
Scottish Ambulance Service
and Helicopter 199 from Prestwick were also tasked.
"A search was undertaken with the kayaker spotted shortly after having become stuck due to falling tides. Our Inshore Lifeboat was able to navigate the shallower water with the kayaker and kayak taken to Coastguard Teams at Balmerino in our Inshore Lifeboat."

They added: "Please remember how changeable our waters are, be aware of tide times, currents and always let someone know where you intend going and take a mobile phone with you.
"Lifeboats then returned to our station and were made ready for the next call.
"Luckily for this kayaker this ended well. Last week's training exercise involved kayakers as pictured below and this training was invaluable last night!"
