TVA Police

The U.S. TVA Police is a federally commissioned law enforcement agency that exists to protect TVA’s employees, visitors and physical assets. This includes TVA public lands and lakes and the people who enjoy them.

What We Do

TVA Police is committed to doing its part to keep the lights on across its service area with targeted crime prevention methods, which include the TVA Police Door to Door program?in which inspectors work to educate those who live near TVA facilities about their importance and ask these neighbors to be vigilant in helping to protect the Tennessee Valley's vital resources?and participation in U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s If You See Something, Say Something campaign.

We also strive to educate our employees, community members and users of TVA recreational areas on the importance of reporting suspicious activity.

"New and increasingly sophisticated threats are facing the energy industry. To address those and to help TVA continue serving the public, we are focusing our operations on preparedness, prevention, intelligence gathering and technology." ?Todd Peney, Director, TVA Police

Our Areas of Focus

  • Intelligence gathering: TVA Police security professionals continually assess the threats facing the energy sector to ensure that TVA's security posture meets or exceeds industry standards.
  • Prevention and Education: Our first priority is to detect, deter and prevent criminal activity. We want to stop trouble before it starts. Education of our employees and users of TVA public lands is a key part of our prevention efforts.
  • Protection : We focus on keeping TVA properties and people safe.
  • Preservation: TVA's lands hold many historical and archaeological resources. Removing them without a permit is against the law. TVA Police is dedicated to protecting the cultural heritage of our lands
