Novak Katalin - Curriculum Vitae

Born on September 6, 1977 in Szeged. Married to economist István Veres. They raise three children Ádám, Tamás and Kata. Her parents and her brother are doctors. During her university studies she lived in Budapest, and after graduation she settled down there with her husband. Her birth town has always remained important to her.

 

She is one of the creators of the unique Hungarian family policy idea and model, and has been leading this field within the government for the past two terms; first as Minister of State and later as a Cabinet Minister. During her term in office, the notion of family policy, the actual governmental measures and, consequently, the Hungarian demographic trends have undergone a remarkable transformation.

She is the editor of the volumes Family Friendly Turn 2010-2018, Family Friendly Decade 2010-2020, and „…What is ours” 50 Writings on the Family. She is the creator of the Stipendium Peregrinum scholarship programme. On her initiative, 2018 was celebrated as the Year of the Family in Hungary.

A reformed Christian.

An enthustiastic runner, she has already completed a marathon. She is a good skier, likes to bake, to go to the theatre and to the cinema. She has a passion for board games. A few years ago her family found a new companion in their adopted dog, Pogó.
