Travel Channel has named Ross Babbit senior vice president of programming and development, the network announced today. News follows Shannon O’Neill’s appointment as prez of the Scripps-owned cable net.

Travel Channel general manager Andy Singer is stepping down from his post after a two-year tenure and exiting the company, as well, Variety has confirmed.

Babbit joined Travel Channel in February 2012 and has been “influential in the brand’s evolution and growth,” according to the cabler. He arrived at the network after overseeing programming at sibling net DIY Network. Babbit has been a part of the Scripps Networks Interactive family for a decade.

“Ross has contributed to our success through winning shows that have increased the network’s audience of upscale, educated and highly valued viewers,” O’Neill said. “With his expanded role, he’ll work with all the talented individuals at Travel Channel to grow our viewership through innovative formats and our team of engaging, expert hosts.”

O’Neill continued, “We have a strong team in place to take Travel Channel to the next level. With the breadth of programming and production experience Ross brings to the table, we’re well-positioned to deliver programming that connects with our audience and builds on travel’s power as a transformative force in our lives.”

Babbit’s promotion and Singer’s exit are the latest exec movements at Travel Channel, which has seen steady brass turnover in the last four months. Late last year, it was announced Laureen Ong would be stepping down as president of Travel Channel. Her successor, O’Neill, was named earlier this month.
