SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Aunt Martha's Pancake House was an Ozarks favorite for decades until it closed on Oct. 21, 2015. Ruth Freeman owned it for more than 50 years. Her daughter, Brenda Freeman, ran the business in recent years.

The original Aunt Martha operated her pancake house in downtown, until Ruth Freeman bought the name and the business and moved it into a former Army mess kitchen from the long-gone O'Reilly Army Hospital of World War II. The hospital campus was where Evangel University now stands.
