Data Sources and Notes

The charts on this page depict haplogroup data for the numerically largest ethnic groups residing in this country.? Many? interactive ways ?of looking at the data are available.  The  complete data  file is available  in a variety of formats such as CSV, XLS, or MDB.

Haplogroup naming follows the ISOGG 2012 classification system:? http://www.isogg.org/tree/index.html . Notes: 1) In the above charts, haplogroup letter statistics include all sub-groups; sub-haplogroup letter statistics include only that sub-group; e.g., a 'G' in the haplogroup chart includes all G sub-branches (M201 marker plus all progeny; G, G1, G2, etc.), while a 'G' in the sub-haplogroup chart includes only the G as a sub-haplogroup (i.e., M201 marker only); 2) Due to varying levels of granularity in the studies combined in these data, there is some ambiguity in the sub-haplogroup results (study X may have taken its haplogrouping to the level of G2a3a, study Y only to G2a, and study Z only to G); the haplogroup results are therefore more definitive than the sub-haplogroup results in the current state of the data.? Please see? methods ?page for detailed information about data sources, ambiguities, errors, and risks inherent in this type of study.
