Chris Cornell's Daughter Performs Tribute to Dad, Linkin Park's Chester Bennington on 'GMA'

on Friday morning (Aug. 4) to perform
Leonard Cohen
's classic "Hallelujah" with
OneRepublic
in honor of her late father and her godfather,
Chester Bennington
.
"It's an honor to perform this for my dad and Chester and to sing for them," she said.
The
Soundgarden
and
Linkin Park
singers were close friends who had toured and performed together. Bennington sang "Hallelujah" at Cornell's memorial service, after the frontman died in May from suicide by hanging.
On what would have been Cornell's 53rd birthday, July 20, Bennington also died from suicide by hanging.
Linkin Park had been scheduled to perform in Central Park as part of
GMA
's
Summer Concert Series. OneRepublic filled in for the band Friday, taking a detour from their ongoing nationwide tour to celebrate the legacy of Bennington and Cornell.
Ryan Tedder talked to
Billboard
before Friday's performance, saying: "We met Linkin Park early in our career and always looked up to them. It's an honor to fill in for them on
GMA
."
