Chris Cornell's Daughter Performs Tribute to Dad, Linkin Park's Chester Bennington on 'GMA'

12-year-old Toni Cornell sang Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" on the ABC morning show.

Toni Cornell, the 12-year-old daughter of late singer Chris Cornell , visited Good Morning America on Friday morning (Aug. 4) to perform Leonard Cohen 's classic "Hallelujah" with OneRepublic in honor of her late father and her godfather,  Chester Bennington .

"It's an honor to perform this for my dad and Chester and to sing for them," she said.

The Soundgarden and Linkin Park  singers were close friends who had toured and performed together. Bennington sang "Hallelujah" at Cornell's memorial service, after the frontman died in May from suicide by hanging.

On what would have been Cornell's 53rd birthday, July 20, Bennington also died from suicide by hanging.

Linkin Park had been scheduled to perform in Central Park as part of GMA 's Summer Concert Series. OneRepublic filled in for the band Friday, taking a detour from their ongoing nationwide tour to celebrate the legacy of Bennington and Cornell.

Ryan Tedder talked to  Billboard  before Friday's performance, saying: "We met Linkin Park early in our career and always looked up to them. It's an honor to fill in for them on GMA ."
