Another year almost over
As the end of another school year draws to a close, have a look back over just a few of the events that have taken place in St. Colmcille's SNS with the help of a great video produced by three of our 4th class pupils - Ella McGrenery, Ryan Gleeson and Jake Lynch.
Roald Dahl Week
To celebrate what would have been his 100th birthday, our pupils embraced the magic of Dahl for an entire week. We were lost in magical lands, revolted by disgusting rhymes, thrilled by the delights of Mr. Willy Wonka and enthralled by the wonderful stories and tales of one of the greatest children's writers to have ever put pen to paper. Not to be outdone, our own pupils composed their own poems and rhymes, inspired by their immersion in the world of Roald Dahl. Ms. O'Gara was on hand to oversee the week and a special word of thanks also to our resident librarian, Cronin, who ensured that we all had plenty of source material to use as inspiration for our writers. Some of the children's poems will appear on the Pupils Work section of the website in the coming days. The photos on the left are just a few snapshots of some of the prize winners from the poetry competition. Well done to all, and keep writing!
We've come to the end of another school year and what a year it has been! Have a look at the video below for just a flavour of the goings on in St. Colmcilles since last September.
St. Colmcille's Day is one of the highlights of the year in the school. This year our theme for the Design and Make project was Irish Landmarks and the variety of models on display was simply stunning. Our pilgrimage to St. Colmcille's Well was very well attended as usual and Mr J's Drama was a joy to behold. The annual House races and the 6th class versus the teachers race were full of drama and excitement. How will we ever top this next year? Check out the video below, produced by Mr. Ryan Hegarty from Mr. Fitzpatrick's class for a flavour of the day's events.
1916 Commemorative Flag Presentation
This morning we were honoured to receive our national flag to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1916 Rising from two members of the Air Corps. The flag, presented by Sergeant Karen Walsh and Lieutenant David Finnigan, will be raised in conjunction with flags in all schools across the country on the 15th March, 2016 to celebrate Proclamation Day.With over 1100 pupils from the Senior and Junior school's in attendance, the officers of the Air Corps were highly impressed by the impeccable behaviour and attention of our pupils.
