The Spice Girls were apparently set to make their long-awaited comeback on
The X Factor
this weekend, though plans have now fallen through.
Talk of a reunion and endless teases over the last few months almost amounted to something substantial this weekend in the form a duet with 5 After Midnight.

The paper reports that Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Mel B's schedules unfortunately did not match up enough to make it work.
Instead, 5 After Midnight will reportedly duet with Clean Bandit and last year's winner Louisa Johnson.
The three have reunited as GEM, having
recorded a single together
. There was also
talk of a Hyde Park gig
, though all plans were
put off until 2017
.
However, Mel B has
poured cold water over Spice Girl reunion rumours
even for next year in a new interview, suggesting that it may not even happen.

"I'm not sick of talking about it," she said. "If anything, I want to keep on talking about it until something actually happens, because as of right now there's nothing booked, there's nothing set in stone, nothing's been signed.
"I'm off doing Broadway for the next three months [in
Chicago
] and I go straight into
America's Got Talent
so I'm pretty busy all of next year, but if anybody said to me, 'Okay, the Spice Girls are going to perform next week', I'd be the first one right there!"
Mel C
and
Victoria Beckham
have ruled themselves out of future reunions, though Mel B thinks she can still talk them round.
"Nothing's even been said out there yet, so until something gets set in stone like I said it is what it is. I'm just waiting like everybody else."
