Grimes
is
currently touring
in support of
Visions
.
Her weekend in New York, from March 23-25, will also include her debut visual art opening at the
Audio Visual Arts
(AVA) gallery in New York City's East Village. (She performs at Mercury Lounge and Glasslands Gallery on the 23 and 24, respectively.)
The second night of the showing will feature a silent auction, presented by
Refinery29
, to benefit
Sisters in Spirit
, a campaign launched by the
Native Women's Association of Canada
in 2004 to raise awareness of violence against
Aboriginal
women in Canada. The organization intends to create a national, toll-free report line, influence governmental policy, and educate the public.
Boucher's art show will include recent paintings and drawings, as well as a selection of work from other fellow Canadian artists, curated by Grimes. A press release described Boucher's visual art as an extension of "the Grimes project" that offers further insight into the development of her recent record. Similar exhibitions will travel to London, Vancouver, and Boucher's home base, Montreal.
