Mumbai :? Claiming that the Mumbai-Pune expressway was completed in less amount of money than expected, former BJP national president Nitin Gadkari attacked the Congress-NCP government for not completing Bandra-Worli sea link. He also expressed his unhappiness over the political parties being more focused on election than social economic development.?

A book ‘ India Aspires’ written by Gadkari and scripted by Tuhin Sinha was released at the hands of veteran journalist M J Akbar here on Friday evening.
In his book, his first in English, Nitin Gadkari has talked about his aspirations for the country. He roots for bio-fuel and solar energy. He talks about managing India’s natural resources better besides giving our agricultural and rural sector its longstanding due. He delves into the fallacies that hold us back as a nation and suggests ways to power ahead. As told to bestselling author Tuhin A Sinha, ‘India Aspires’ gives a rare insight into the thoughts of Nitin Gadkari and spells out his agenda for the nation.
“ I completed Mumbai-Pune expressway through Public Works department in just Rs 1600 crore when the lowest tender for the project was Rs 3,600 crore. The cost of flyovers in Mumbai as per tender was expected to be Rs 1,800 crore, but I completed this in just Rs 1,000 crore. But I feel bad for Bandra-Worli Sea link. I have done basic work and also sanctioned Rs 420 crore for the bridge portion. But despite 15 years, this is still incomplete and the cost has escalated to Rs 1800 crore,’’ Gadkari said.
