Much improved

The app has improved a lot recently. I'm now able to download issues while the app is running in the background, and is doing a better job remembering where I left off without having to set a bookmark.
The magazine is great and I really enjoy the digital format. Being able to see more screenshots than the printed format allows, having the trailer or video interview embedded into the article is great. I won't go back to the print issues.
GameStop at it again

I initially had printed subscriptions coming to my home but decided to go digital when I received a new iPad Air. With my first digital subscription I was able to see and have access to download digital issues that I had when I was a print only subscriber. Things went south when I needed to replace my iPad. When I brought everything back up, I looked back to issues that once had a download option and if I didn't download them before, they now were labeled 4.99 for individual purchase. Restoring purchases did nothing. I refuse to pay again for issues I already paid for. Their app needs to make better use of Apple's cloud model, period.
No background downloading; unforgivably slow downloads

I converted my print subscription to this app - what a mistake. Regardless of where I connect to the Internet (RTP NC, San Francisco CA, Boston, MA) the issues download at about 1% per minute. I don't know what size the documents are so I can't comment on actual throughput but trust me when I say it's painful. Also, the app stops downloading altogether if it isn't active in the foreground, so you'll need to stare blankly at your device for over an hour waiting for your next issue. I should have stuck with USPS.
