To stage the first Olympic and Paralympic Games in South America, yhe rio 2016 Organising Committee will count on the work and dedication of more than 160,000 people. There will be 8,000 organising committee staff, 85,000 outsourced staff and approximately 70,000 volunteers. These groups will join forces ans perform a hugely diverse range of functions during the event. The Rio 2016 Human Resources team has the mision of recuiting, training and managing this entire workforce.

Carlos Arthur Nuzman?began his sports career as an athlete. He represented Brazil at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 1964, at the World Championships in USSR in 1962 and in Czechoslovakia in 1966 as a member of the National Volleyball Team.

His career as a sport executive started in 1975, when he was named President of the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation, position he has occupied till 1997 and through which he chaired the bid to include Beach Volleyball in the Olympic Games sports programme.

He was named President of the Brazilian Olympic Committee in 1995, member of the International Olympic Committee since 2000, President of the Bid Committee and of the Organising Committee of the Pan and Parapan-American Games Rio 2007 from 2002 to 2007, President of Rio 2016 Bid Committee from 2007 to 2009.

Carlos Arthur Nuzman has BA in Law from the Federal University do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).

From 1994 to 2011, Sidney Levy was CEO of Valid SA, where since 2011 he is the Chairman of the Board. Between 1992 and 1994, Levy was CEO of DLR Lerchundi in Spain. He also worked at Thomas de La Rue in many leadership positions in Brazil and England from 1981 and 1991.

From 2005 to 2007, Sidney was President of the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce for Brazil, Rio de Janeiro. He serves at the Board of Directors of Cedae Water since 2007, Ediouro Publishing since 2006, and Ancar Shoppings since 2010.

Graduated in Industrial Engineering by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro ( UFRJ), Levy has a Master Degree in Engineering by COPPE-RJ, and a PED at the Institute of Management Development in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Deputy CEO

Leonardo Gryner entered the Olympic world in 1995, occupying the position of Marketing and Communications Director of the Brazilian Olympic Committee. He was the Marketing and Communications Director for the Rio 2007 Pan-american and Parapan-american Games Committee. He was also the Marketing and Communications Director of both the Rio 2016 Bid Committee and the Brazilian Olympic Committee.

With wide experience in marketing and communications, Leonardo began to work in the sport area in 1983, when he has occupied the position of Sports Director (1983/1990) and Sports Marketing Director?(1991).?He was also responsible for Sports TV Rights Acquisition (1985/1991) at Globo TV.

He has worked as a Marketing consultant for FIVB (1992/1994) and for different National Federations and football clubs in Brazil.

Agberto Guimaraes' career in sport began with Athletics, in which he has obtained many victories, among them: fourth place in the 800m in the Moscow 1980 Olympic Games; semi-finalist in the 800m in the Lons Angeles 1984 Olympic Games; Gold in the 800m and 1500m and silver in the 4x400m in the Caracas 1983 Pan-american Games; Bronze in the 800m and 1500m in the Porto Rico 1979 Pan-american Games.

He was the Technical Director of the Athletics Brazilian Confederation from 1995 to 1997, as Sport Director of the Rio 2007 XV Pan-american and Parapan-american Games from 2002 to 2007, and as General Manager of the International Olympic Solidarity in Brazil.

His last position before joining the Rio 2016 Organising Committee was Development General Manager of the Brazilian Olympic Committee from 2008 to 2010, period in which he has also worked as Director of the Rio 2016 Bid Committee.

Agberto has a?bachelor degree in Physical Education from Sao Caetano University.

Executive Director of Finance

An executive and entrepreneur, Ana Paula was the founding partner of Brunswick Brasil, a leading global strategic communications company. In 2011 she established and chaired Neemu Internet, which was recently sold to Linx SA. She had previously served as a director of several Globo group companies. She worked as CFO of Infoglobo and led the company’s financial restructuring from 2002 to 2005.?

Ana Paula is a member of News Corporation’s board of directors in New York, Vinci’s management board in Paris, The Nature Conservancy Brasil’s advisory council, and the Roberto Marinho Foundation’s board of directors.

She has an undergraduate degree in Economics and International Relations from Stanford University, and an MA in Economics, also from Stanford. She worked for several years for the United Nations Development Fund, the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank before returning to Brazil.

Marco Aurelio Vieira is the Executive Director of Operations for the Organising Committee for the Rio 2016™ Olympic and Paralympic Games. He also leads the Operations Board of Directors, which includes the Olympic Village & NOC/NPC Services, Venues, Technology, Accommodations, Games Services, Transport, Security, Ceremonies, Infrastructure Integration and Venues Management departments.

A Military Professional with broad experience in Planning and Integrated Projects Management, Marco is a Division General and holds a PhD in Military Sciences specialising in Logistics and Management.? In the Brazilian Armed Forces, he served as Higher Education Director for the Army from 2009 until 2012.

Executive Director of Communications

An economics graduate, Mario Andrada has spent almost his whole professional career in sports journalism. He worked for the newspapers Folha de Sao Paulo (International Correspondent and Sports Editor) and Jornal do Brasil (International Correspondent), for Radio Eldorado as well as US-based television network CBS. Mario was Reuters Executive Editor, responsible for the agency’s editorial operations in Latin America. Before accepting the Rio 2016 challenge, he held the position of Nike Communications Director, serving the markets in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Chile as well as other countries in the region.

Chief Commercial Officer

Prior to joining Rio 2016™, Ciuchini was Latin America Sales Vice President for Convergys, a global leader in relationship management.

With more than 20 years’ experience working for global Fortune 500 companies, Renato held, from 1993 to 2007, several senior sales positions with AT&T, Lucent and Avaya in Brazil, US and Europe, including Managing Director for Spain and Portugal and Sales Vice President for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

From 2007 to 2009, he was Executive Director at TIM Brasil, responsible for Strategic Planning, Business Development and Corporate Market.

Ciuchini lives in Rio de Janeiro since 2007 and holds a bachelor's degree in electronics engineering.

Executive Director Of Operations

Graduated in Law and Economics, Rodrigo Tostes has worked in large companies such as Arthur Andersen and Price WaterhouseCoopers and was Vice-President for Finance and, later, CEO of ThyssenKrupp CSA - Companhia Siderurgica do Atlantico in Rio de Janeiro. In Rio 2016, the new CFO (Chief Financial Officer) will be responsible for the Financial, Human Resources, Procurement, Legal, Planning and Institutional Relations Departments.

Infrastructure Integration Director

Alexandre Techima engaged in the major events business on 2004 as Technology Director of the 2007 Pan-American Games Organising Committee and was the Operations Director of the Rio 2007 Pan-American Games. During the bid of Rio for the Olympic Games, he was appointed as Director of Infrastructure for the Bid Committee and led the Venues, Transport, Environment and Technology programmes.

Alexandre is Electrical Engineer and Telecommunications Specialist graduated from the University of Brasilia. He is PMP and MCSO and has articles and essays published on Project Management, Technology and Risk Management magazines.?

Communications Director

A qualified journalist and historian, Adriana Garcia has an MA in journalism, marketing and technology, and more than 20 years of experience in the field of communications and the press. She has worked for major communications outlets, such as newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo and magazines Veja SP and Exame, and she worked for 15 years at Thomson Reuters, one of the world’s largest news agencies, where she was editor-in-chief in Brazil and a correspondent in the United States. Her last two years were dedicated to the development of a collaborative platform to promote enterprising models for journalism in Brazil at Stanford University, as the holder of a prestigious J.S. Knight Fellowship.?

Branding Director

Beth Lula leads the design, advertising and promotion, brand management and look of the games teams, plus the spectator experience area.
With 17 years in the Communication and Marketing area, she has worked in branding projects management, sponsorship, relationship marketing, promotional and publicity campaigns, among others.
In 2000, she worked in one of the Brazilian Olympic Committee sponsors for the Sydney Olympic Games and made her debut in the Olympic world. Then, she joined the Brazilian Olympic Committee as Communication and Marketing Manager, and was the responsible for the creation and development of the Branding area and all the promotional strategy of the institution and its projects: Brazil 2002 South American Games, Rio 2007 Pan and Parapan American Games, and currently, the Rio 2016™ Olympic and Paralympic Games.
She also took care of the BOC and Time Brasil brand positioning in national and international events, such as the Salt Lake City 2002, Athens 2004, Torino 2006, Beijing 2008 and Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games.

Institutional Relations Director

In his current position, Mr. Sanctos is responsible for coordinating actions and programs regarding institutional stakeholders of the Rio 2016 Organising Committee.

His connection to sports dates back to 1995, when he was appointed Chief of Staff of the first Minister for Sports in Brazilian history, Mr. Edson Arantes do Nascimento, better known as “Pele”. One of his responsibilities was preparing the initial drafts of the new sports law of Brazil.

Mr. Sanctos is a career Ambassador in the Brazilian Foreign Service. He is on temporary leave of absence since June 2010, when he joined Rio 2016.

Compliance Director

A qualified lawyer and graduatted in economist, Rebecca Villagra has been working at the Rio de Janeiro?State Finance Secretariat since 2007. Before accepting the challenge to set up the Rio 2016 Committee’s?Compliance area, Rebeca served as Rio de Janeiro state finance sub-secretary, and starting in April 2011?she was responsible for managing the State Treasury, controlling and monitoring the state government’s debt,?raising funds and controlling all the government’s financial transactions.

Ticketing Director

With a solid career in event planning, especially in the ticketing area, Donovan acted as Information Technology Manager, Operations and Tickets General Manager and Managing Director in large scale companies in the entertainment industry.

The new director holds a Technology degree and an International MBA.?Before joining Rio 2016™, Donovan was General Director in one of the companies owned by Grupo GEO Eventos under Organizacoes Globo, which specialises in the organisation and planning of large events.

Transport Director

Elaine Felske has an undergraduate degree in geography and an MA in transport systems. She has dedicated her last 10 years to the development of transportation solutions for mega-events and her wide range of customers (including athletes, referees, the press and VIPs). She worked as general manager for Transport and Traffic at the Local Organising Committee for the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup and also at the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games Bid Committee. Elaine was the manager of the Transport and Traffic area for the Rio 2007 Pan American and Parapan-American Games.

Technology Director

Elly Resende is an electric engineer with more than 20 years of experience in infrastructure planning, implementation and operation, and he has worked in international equipment manufacture and telecommunications operator companies.

Since 2004, he works in major sport events organisation. He has occupied the Telecommunications Manager position and, later, the Technology Director of the Rio 2007 Pan and Parapan-american Games Committee position. He has also been the Infrastructure Director of the Rio 2016 Bid Committee and, after the victory, was appointed as the Head of the Technology area of the Games. He is the responsible for all the system, program and technology infrastructure that support all Organising Committee’s functional areas, plus the integration of Broadcasting and the Host Broadcaster.

Logistics Director

Fernando Cotrim?started his career in the Supply Chain and Logistics Area in 1997.?He has worked during 14 years in multiple positions in the Supply Chain area, such as planning, purchase of raw material and indirect material, services hiring, inventory management, national and international logistics.

He has international experience and worked in Chile and Mexico. He has also worked as a consultant in the Supply Chain Area in Brazil and other countries of Latin?America in strategic sourcing projects, planning and optimization of the Supply Chain, organizational restructuring and processes automation.

Prior to joining?the Rio 2016 Organising Committee, he was the Logistics and Supply Chain Director in AES Brazil. He also held executive positions in companies like Souza Cruz, Braskem and Usiminas.

Fernando Cotrim has a Business Administration degree from Universidade de Sao Paulo (USP) and MBA from Fundacao Getulio Vargas (FGV).

Human Resources Director

With master’s degree from IME (Military Institute of Engineering), post-graduation in Finances from FGV (Getulio Vargas Foundation) and an extension training in Strategic People Management from INSEAD, France, the engineer Henrique Gonzalez Garcia Filho leads the Games Workforce and Corporate HR functional areas. The main challenges are related to recruiting, training and managing, until 2016, a workforce of more than 160,000 people, including 8,000 paid staff, 70,000 volunteers and 85,000 contractors. Henrique Gonzalez did most of his carreer at Shell Brasil, where he has worked for 19 years, performing as Shell Brasil HR Director and Latin America HR Director.

He has experience in aligning Organizational Culture to business vision and strategic pillars, reinforcing sustainable actions and company’s values, seeking for a better reputation towards workforce, clients and stakeholders. In his international experience, he has participated in direct and indirect management of professionals throughout Latin America and has worked with pairs in five continents.?

Ceremonies Director

Leonardo has 24 years of professional experience with outstanding contributions in the areas of Planning, Production, Products, Sales, and Finance.? In addition, he also has extensive experience in high level management in large Brazilian and multinational companies such as Fox Channels, Oi Telecomunicacoes, Fininvest, Banco Icatu and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Leonardo Caetano was born in Rio de Janeiro, graduated in Business Administration and received an MBA with an emphasis in Management and Business Economics.

Security Director

Luiz Fernando is a retired Chief of Police and expert on Public Security Management. He has coordinated the security actions during the Rio 2007 Pan American and Parapan American Games.

Previously, he had been the Agent of Narcotics Repression of the Federal Police during 14 years before becoming the Chief of Federal Police in 1995. Ahead of “SENASP”, he has created the National Force of Public Security, the Councils of Public Security Integrated Management, among other structural measures.

As the Federal Police General Director, he has reformulated the model of management of the institution, adopting tools and methods regularly used by private companies, such as costs control and sustainability program, prioritizing the final objective of judicial policy focused on the qualified production of the final evidence.

He has also worked as the General Director of Federal Police (2007-2011) and National Secretary of Public Security (2003-2007).
He has a bachelor degree?in Laws from Fundacao Universidade do Rio Grande (1986) and a Master degree in Public Security Management from Fundacao Getulio Vargas (2005).

Olympic & Paralympic Village and NOC/NPC Relations & Services Director

With more than?15 years of experience in the Sports Management and International Relations fields, Mario?has been?directly involved in last four editions of the Pan American Games since 1995. Mario has also?worked for the Organising Committee for the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games, after which he worked for the Canadian Olympic Committee.

He has moved to Brazil in early 2004, where he has worked with the Rio 2007 Pan American Games Organising Committee in areas of Games Planning, Project Management and Operations, after which, in late 2005, he?was appointed Chief Operating Officer of the Organising Committee.

After the completion of the successful Pan-american Games, Mario continued to work directly for the Brazilian Olympic Committee, first as the Technical Director of the Rio 2016 Olympic Bid during the applicant phase of the Bid, and then as Director of International Relations for Rio 2016 Candidate City.

Rodrigo Garcia has an undergraduate degree in sport from the University of Sao Paulo and has worked in the field since 1995. He served on the Rio 2007 Pan and Parapan American Games Organising Committee, the Rio 2016 Bid Committee and the Sao Paulo State Committee for the FIFA World Cup. At the Rio 2016 Committee since 2010, he has been working on the operational planning of venues and sports, as well as relations with International Federations.

Marcos Senna currently works as Director of Marketing Partners in the Rio 2016 Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Marcos has 12 years of experience in the Telecommunications industry, working for Claro and Tim, as Executive Manager in Marketing and Business areas. He has also worked for General Motors, Souza Cruz and Citibank. Marcos holds a degree in Economics from PUC-Rio and a Master degree in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts.

Licensing Director

Sylmara Multini has vast experience in leading marketing, licensing and global companies’ sales projects, contributing significantly to the increase in their brands visibility by way of innovative marketing strategies.

From 1998 until 2000, as Matel Inc. Licensing Manager in Sao Paulo, she was responsible for creating and implementing the business strategy and negotiating and renewing contracts. For Walt Disney Company, she led a team of five professionals responsible for increasing the revenues between 2000 and 2001.

Before joining the Committee, she lived in the USA for eight years where she worked as Warner Bros. Studios Licensing Director for Latin America. In this last position, she led the sales team responsible for brands such as Harry Potter, Superman and Batman.

Married with two daughters, Sylmara holds a degree in Business Administration from USP (University of Sao Paulo).

With broad experience in the Olympic world, Todd has held leadership positions in the Organising Committees for the London 2012, Vancouver 2010, Beijing 2008, Athens 2004 and Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, and has participated in the Rio de Janeiro 2007 Pan American and Para Pan Games.

Todd Severson has knowledge and experience in planning and operating events held in 24 cities, spread across 10 countries on five continents.

Gustavo Nascimento has an undergraduate degree in architecture and an MA in civil engineering, and he has been at the Rio 2016 Committee since 2010, in the Venue Management area. He has extensive experience in venues for major events. For example, he led this area for the Rio 2007 Pan American and Parapan-American Games and was in charge of Venue Development and Overlay (VED) for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Operational Rediness Director

Ingrid Tozer has a degree in Sports Management and has worked exclusively as a major event management professional for the past 17 years. Ingrid has worked primarily on Olympic Games and Youth Olympic Games projects from bidding through to planning, readiness and operations. Most recently Ingrid co-held the position of Main Operations Centre Director for the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, and also for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Holds Bachelor Degree in International Relations and Master Degree in Business Administration, Joao is in Rio 2016 Committee since 2011 and was Procurement General Manager. With over 15 years of experience in the Supply area, Joao has always acted as consultant for multinational companies in projects in Latin America, the United States, Europe,?Middle East and Africa.
