Juventus want Cameroon keeper
Kameni saves Angulo's penalty in the Olympic final against Spain to keep Cameroon in the game
Kameni saves Angulo's penalty in the Olympic final against Spain to keep Cameroon in the game
Cameroon keeper Carlos Idriss Kameni - an Olympic gold medal winner last year at 16 - is on the verge of a dream move to Italian giants Juventus.

Kameni has spent the last fortnight training with the Turin side and coach Marcello Lippi is reported to have asked the club directors to sign the 17-year-old when the Italian transfer window re-opens in January.

Lippi wants cover for Italian international Gianluigi Buffon, the world's most expensive goalkeeper.

Current second choice is Uruguayan Fabian Carini, who played in the 4-3 Champions League defeat at Celtic this week.

Frustrated

But Carini wants to play regularly because he is Uruguay's national team keeper, and has asked Juventus to send him out on loan.

Kameni had spent three seasons with French second division side Le Havre, but was frustrated at the lack of action there and asked the team to let him train with Juventus.

Last year, Kameni burst on to the scene with some stunning displays for Cameroon as they took Olympic gold, including a penalty save in the fifth minute of the final, with the Lions already 1-0 down to Spain.

He has also played at the World Youth Championships in Nigeria in 1999 and was in the senior squad for the Confederations Cup in June.
