AN account is being issued by the Macmillan Company of "The Garter Mission to Japan," written by a member of the mission, which was headed by the Duke of Connaught, A.B. Freeman-Mitford, first Lord Redesdale, the well-known traveler and author of "Tales of Old Japan," "The Bamboo Garden," "The Attache at Peking," The book consists of "journal letters" written primarily for home consumption, and therefore the dates interspersed throughout have been kept.
