Okay, so I think we’ve probably all owned the Star Wars movies (or at very least, the original Star Wars trilogy) a handful of times on different platforms and formats. George Lucas was always good about adding something new that we had to have, “forcing” us to rebut the series again. And now that the films are out of Lucas’ hands, the cycle is still happening. In April,
Disney released the Star Wars films on digital platforms in HD with new special features
(and yes, I bought the collection yet again on Apple TV).
Today, Walt Disney Studios, Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox announced that they will release the six films as commemorative Blu-ray steelbooks on November 10th 2015. Previously the series was only available on Blu-ray in trilogy or series collections, and not individually.
