Star Wars Steelbooks

Okay, so I think we’ve probably all owned the Star Wars movies (or at very least, the original Star Wars trilogy) a handful of times on different platforms and formats. George Lucas was always good about adding something new that we had to have, “forcing” us to rebut the series again. And now that the films are out of Lucas’ hands, the cycle is still happening. In April, Disney released the Star Wars films on digital platforms in HD with new special features (and yes, I bought the collection yet again on Apple TV).

Today, Walt Disney Studios, Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox announced that they will release the six films as commemorative Blu-ray steelbooks on November 10th 2015. Previously the series was only available on Blu-ray in trilogy or series collections, and not individually. Also they will also be rereleasing Star Wars: The Complete Saga in newly repackaged artwork on October 13th. Hit the jump to check out all of the new Star Wars steelbooks covers and learn more.

newprints

Two of my favorite pop culture artists are gearing up to release prints based on two of the best films released over the last year. Dave Perillo created an awesome poster for Patrick Osborne ‘s Disney animated short film Feast (maybe my favorite animated film from Disney at this point, yes ever) and Scott C created a massive Great Showdown tribute to George Miller ‘s Mad Max: Fury Road . Find out details on how you can obtain both of these prints, and see the artwork in high resolution, after the jump.

Grand Theft Auto Iron Man mod

Even though the newest edition of Grand Theft Auto ?is always something that gets people excited, like any other video game, it gets old after awhile. Sometimes not even expansion packs can make it much more exciting.

However, there are gamers out there who are much more skilled with computers than the average gamer, and they craft some pretty awesome mods to be thrown into a game like Grand Theft Auto V . For example, JulioNIB , who has been creating mods for the video game franchise for a few years now, has been working in an Iron Man suit that allows you to fly around Los Santos, shooting repulsor beams from the character’s?hands and chest.

If you’re a frequent reader of SlashFilm, you know that we love LEGO , and we love even more when the building block toy gets blended with our favorite films. Whether it’s an official Ghostbusters Ecto-1 set or a custom Jurassic Park visitor center, we like seeing the building blocks come together to make things from the movies we love.

Therefore, our interest is piqued by the forthcoming video game LEGO Dimensions , a new collectible figure video game which combines the likes of Lord of the Rings, Back to the Future, Batman (and other DC Comics heroes), The LEGO Movie, Ninjago and even The Wizard of Oz .

And now a new trailer has arrived online, showing the story behind how all these different franchises came to be mixed up with each other. But the real highlight is seeing Batman fight another Batman. Watch the LEGO Dimensions trailer after the jump! Read More »
