ccu1THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT OF UKRAINE is the sole body of constitutional jurisdiction in Ukraine . The Law of Ukraine “On the Constitutional Court of Ukraine ” adopted on October 16, 1996 sets forth that the task of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine is to guarantee the supremacy of the Constitution of Ukraine as the Fundamental Law of the State throughout the territory of Ukraine .

The Court held its first session on October 22, 1996 and adopted its first decision on May 13, 1997.

The organisation, authority and arrangement of activities of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine are set forth by the Constitution of Ukraine, the Law “On the Constitutional Court of Ukraine” and the Rules of Procedure of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

The Constitutional Court of Ukraine consists of eighteen judges. President of Ukraine , Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and Congress of Judges of Ukraine each appoint six judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine for a nine-year term.

The Court is headed by the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine who is elected for a single three-year term from among judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

The organisational, scientific and expert, informational and reference support for the activity of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine is performed by the Secretariat of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

The printed body of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine is "The Bulletin of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine".

According to the Decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine dated February 10, 2015 and the Order of the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine dated February 17, 2015 the newly appointed Head of the Secretariat of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Yaroslav Vasyl'kevych assumed the office. The Head of the Secretariat was introduced to the Court's staff by the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Yurii Baulin.

On February 13, 2015 Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Yurii Baulin and Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, Chairman of the Standing Commission of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on International Relations Stanislav Shevchuk participated in the Consultation Forum dedicated to the 15th anniversary years of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine: a look into the past to determine the further country assistance strategy" which was held in Kiev. The forum was attended by OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier, the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine, Ambassador Vaidotas Verba, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Dmytro Shymkiv, Acting Head of the Directorate for International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Beshta, OSCE Co-ordinator Office staff and project managers from different areas and problems...
 Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Yurii Baulin met with the delegation of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe 06.02.2015
On February 3, 2015 Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Yurii Baulin met with the official delegation of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe headed by the Commission's President Gianni Buquicchio. The meeting held within the frame of the official visit of the delegation to Ukraine was attended by the member of the Venice Commission Hanna Suchocka, Secretary of the Venice Commission Thomas Markert and Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine Ambassador Vladimir Ristovski. The discussion was dedicated to a number of important issues such as the current state of justice in Ukraine, reform of the system of government, including judicial and constitutional reforms...
 Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Petro Stetsiuk took part in the international conference "The Determinants of Good Administration" 17.12.2014
On December 11-12, 2014 upon the invitation of the School of Law and Public Administration in Przemysl (Poland), Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Petro Stetsiuk took part in the international research and practical conference "The Determinants of Good Administration", held in Krasiczyn, Poland. The conference was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the beginning of social-political changes in Poland, the restoration of functioning of the basic institutions of modern constitutional state, in particular local self-government. The scientific event was organised by the School of Law and Public Administration in Przemysl and a number of Polish NGOs. The conference has become a kind of outcome of studies conducted within the research project "Legality, preparedness and good administrative practice as a condition for good governance."
 Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine met with the representatives of the International Development Law Organisation 24.11.2014
On November 20, 2014 judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, Chairman of the Standing Commission of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on International Relations Stanislav Shevchuk met with the representatives of the International Development Law Organisation William Paton and Margarita Milikh. William Paton noted that the purpose of his visit was to study the possibility of implementation of programs and projects in the field of the rule of law in Ukraine. He also briefed the Ukrainian side about the activities of the International Law Development Organisation which. include assistance in the implementation of legal reforms, in particular constitutional ones, activities in the economic sphere and capacity building, including training of judges.
 Delegation of the Constitutional Court experts got acquainted with the work of the highest court instances in Germany and the European Court of Human Rights 19.11.2014
On November 9-13, 2014 a delegation of the Constitutional Court Secretariat paid a working visit to the Federal Republic of Germany to study the expertise of the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany and that of the highest court instances and institutions of justice. The visit was organised by the German Foundation on International Legal Cooperation (IRZ), a longtime partner of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, which provides assistance in organising regular Ukrainian and German meetings on constitutional and legal issues as well as in fruitful exchange of scientific and methodological experience on the level of the staff of bodies of constitutional jurisdiction of the two countries.
 Delegation of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine participated in the events dedicated to the Day of Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania 29.10.2014
On October 21 - 25, 2014 upon the invitation of the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania Dainius Zalimas, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Yurii Baulin and Judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Serhii Vdovichenko, Mykola Melnyk, Stanislav Shevchuk and Viktor Shyshkin paid a visit to Vilnius to participate in the events on the occasion of the Day of Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania. Within the programme Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Yurii Baulin met with the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania Mr. Dainius Zalimas. During the meeting the heads of the two courts exchanged their opinions on a number of current issues regarding the future cooperation, in particular, agreed on the need to simplify the framework of interaction to achieve more effective and fast results.
 Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Yurii Baulin met with OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine 23.10.2014
On October 20, 2014 Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Yurii Baulin met with the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine Vaidotas Verba. During the meeting, participants exchanged views on some current issues regarding future co-operation, in particular they agreed on the need to simplify the frames of interaction to achieve more efficient and fast results. "The time for decisive action has come, and everything we do must be focused on results", said the OSCE Co-ordinator. Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine noted that the Constitutional Court of Ukraine has for many years maintained close links with OSCE representatives. "During this time the sole body of constitutional jurisdiction in Ukraine received substantial assistance in technical terms and has implemented many joint projects", said Yurii Baulin.
 Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Stanislav Shevchuk met with Canadian Election Observation Mission representatives 10.10.2014
On October 8, 2014 judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, Chairperson of the Standing Commission of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on International Relations Stanislav Shevchuk met with the legal analyst of the Canadian Election Observation Mission (CANEOM) Anne-Marie DeLorey. Having analysed the elections in Ukraine in the previous years, the political, social and economic situation in the country and the importance of coordinating efforts to conduct fair and transparent elections, CANEOM representative prepared a number of questions for the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
 Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Yurii Baulin took part in the 3rd Congress of the World Conference on Constitutional Justice 08.10.2014
Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Yurii Baulin took part in the 3rd Congress of the World Conference on Constitutional Justice "Constitutional Justice and Social Integration", held in Seoulб, Republic of Korea on 28 September - 1 October 2014. During the opening ceremony of the 3rd Congress President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Korea Park Han-Chul noted that it was the topmost forum of the constitutional justice in the world which promotes strengthening of the highest constitutional values. The ceremony was attended by the presidents and judges of the bodies of constitutional jurisdiction from almost 100 countries of the world, representatives of the UNO, Council of Europe, African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights, International Criminal Court, Central American Court of Justice and numerous international human rights organisations.
