Our Belgian correspondent, Mr. Vincent Jacques, recently visited Turkey and three airfields of the Turkish Air Force (THK), including Eskisehir AB, NAS Topel (100km east of Istanbul), Cigli and KaKlic, near Izmir. This is his photo-report.

Eskisehir

Eskisehir airfield, situated 180km south-east of Istanbul, is the base of 1nci Ana Jet Uss? (1st Jet Air Base), of the Turkish Air Force.

As such, it is the main base of no less but three F-4E Phantom II units, including:

- 111. Filo, flying F-4E-2000 Terminators
- 112. Filo, flying F-4Es
- 113. Filo, flying RF-4Es

Eskisehir is also the base of No.201 Filo, equipped with CN.235 transports and AS.532AL/UI Cougars.

Here some photos taken during this remarkable day.

NAS Topel

Naval Air Station Toepl is situated some 100km east of Istanbul, and one of the main Turkish naval aviation bases (Turkish naval aviation is under control of the Turkish Navy).

This airfield is basing the following units:
- 301. Filo, flying SOCATA TB.20s for training and CN.235s for maritime patrol
- 351. Filo, flying AB.204Bs, AB.212AS, and SH-70B Sea Hawks for SAR and anti-submarine warfare (ASW)

Besides, Turkish Coast Guard CN.235s are stationed here as well.

Cigli & KaKlic

Divided into two parts - separated by some two kilometres - and situated outside Izmir, Cigli and KaKlic are the main site of the 2nci Jet Ucus Okul (2nd Jet Training Base).

Units deployed here are:

* Cigli:
- 121. Filo, flying T-38As
- 122. Filo, flying T-37B/Cs
- 123. Filo, flying CN.235s and Bell UH-1Ds

* Kaklic:
