K-pop sensation PSY is releasing a new album in September, his agency told TenAsia Monday.

The famed pop star is working on his new album set for a release in September, an official with his agency YG Entertainment told over the phone Monday.

The official added that although he is aiming at releasing the follow-up tune to “GENTLEMAN” and a new album in September, the album’s tracklist and the promotional activities he will carry out are still being discussed.

Meanwhile, today marks a year since the release of his phenomenal hit “Gangnam Style,” the most-viewed video on YouTube which has accumulated over an eye-popping 1.73 billion views so far.

“Gangnam Style” not only took the 35-year-old rap star’s syndrome globally but also showed K-pop’s hidden potential reaching beyond the common well-produced idols and sexy concepts.

The electronic dance tune collected awards from world-famous music awards ceremonies during the past year, including the MTV Video Music Awards, MTV Europe Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards and Much Music Video Awards.

On Sunday, the singer-songwriter made history again on YouTube by surpassing three billion accumulated views on his official YouTube channel, becoming the third to after pop stars Rihanna and Justin Beiber.
