What will be the abiding memory of the Sochi 2014 winter Games? Will the Olympic family and worldwide audience judge the Games to have been a success? These are the kinds of questions that are particularly topical for the organizers of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Sochi, with one year to go until the sporting contests begin.

Fundamental to organizing such a large-scale event is to have a unified vision and common strategic objectives that are clearly understood by all involved.

The preparation and staging of a unique and successful Games is the key objective uniting all individuals and organizations involved in Russia’s first ever winter Games: This will be achieved by providing a truly positive experience for participants and guests, and the millions of viewers around the world. In this way, the Games will leave a rich legacy for Sochi and Russia as well as the Olympic and Paralympic Movements.

Sochi 2014’s organizers are determined not only to meet, but to exceed the essential requirements and expectations of the IOC, IPC and wider Olympic family. To achieve this ambitious goal, Sochi 2014 developed the "Russian Diamond” strategy to ensure that the Games would be truly world class.

Supporting the Games vision, strategic objectives have been developed to create a unified platform and guide for all involved in the Games organization.

In 2010, these strategic objectives will begin to be met, as the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee activates hundreds of programs and projects which together will determine the overall success of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi.
