INFINITE Becomes SM Family

SM Entertainment has made another surprising announcement after a series of big-scale takeovers.

SM C&C, a subsidiary company of SM Entertainment, has merged with INFINITE’s agency Woollim Entertainment and decided to run an independent label “Woolim Label,” the major agency said through a statement Friday.

Woolim Label will continue to pursue their independent domain of their current artists INFINITE, Nell, TASTY and further rookie artists, set to make synergy effect with SM’s affiliates SM Entertainment, SM C&C and other global subsidiary firms.

For Woolim Label, SM Entertainment will be charge of international distribution of its artists’ music and additional business, while SM C&C will do its label business, SM explained.

SM added that this takeover is expected to make a big improvement in SM group’s whole revenue and work as a steppingstone to mark itself as Asia’s biggest music group and even the first home-grown global music company.

    The new distribution channels seem like a good thing… I just hope they don’t slap that Everysing ad on their MVs.

    I get the business point of view on this, but honestly it caught me by surprise. I didn’t think Woollim needed the extra fire power. They’ve been slowly gaining ground and I thought they were set.

    They deserve it. IT’S BUSINESS YOU GUYS. They are still infinite; No members added or pulled out. They just needed to be market well because they are kinda underrated and deserve to be invested a lot more to be well known not only in Korea, but all around the world. That’s what SMEnt does.     Before you guys start connenting shit, read the whole article first. Stop whining just over the title. Infinite is still under Woolim. SM will only help to market them. Woolim will still be Woolim and SM will still be SM.

      I totally agree. I was a little skeptical at first since I had mixed feelings about SM. After reading the article, though, it doesn’t seem too bad of an idea since Infinite will still be under Woolim while probably also getting more publicity for being with SM (not gonna say being under SM since it’s not exactly like that). There doesn’t seem to be any immediate backlash from this news so fans of Infinite, Woolim, AND SM should just hope for the best for both “agencies” and their artists.

    I know there are many people explaining about what this means and stuff. But I’m sure that all these merging and stuff have some indirect/direct impact on them. That’s why they are kind of sad too. You can see their faces here. All very serious or should I say, troubled too. And their recent “One great Step” concert yesterday.

    From merging, advantages are not all they get. There will be many disadvantages for them too. I’m not saying that this is bad, but it’s not exactly a very good thing either. But i have to say that with SM ent help, INFINITE will have even more fans.

    that’s why I’m also not sure about how i should feel. But either way, we INSPIRITS will LOVE and SUPPORT INFINITE forever no matter what happens, won’t we? :)

    I like INFINITE music & style, I don’t want them to change…They’re good as they’re now :) Their songs have nice meanings and I understand the lyrics very well unlike SM’s, their song titles are not as ridiculous as SM’s..yeah, I know I’m being bias but INFINITE style are SO DIFFERENT to SM :)

    It’s not like infinite is going to be an SM artist lol. They are still under Woollim and won’t change their music and style; SM has no authority to change or decide the concept of Infinite’s music because they don’t control infinite, Woollim does. To all of those who say no, this is actually a good thing for both companies because they both get profit and infinite gets more popular. Nothing else happens. But what does bother me is that people saying they don’t want exo to be compared to infinite? Uh hello, they already are being compared lol! Exo is going to be compared to every single male group out there whether you like it or not! That is the same with every other successful male group. Honestly none of you commenters have reasonable logic. Infinite is NOT an SM artist so don’t worry about their music changing and stuff.
