Classified brings it home at Evolve Festival [Review]

Antigonish, NS - This year from July 19-21, thousands of music enthusiasts and conneseiur’s of the chill life met at Evolve Festival to take in the sights and sounds of what CBC Radio 3 Searchlight listeners across Canada voted Canada’s “Best Festival.” Hosted on a massive farm property in the middle of Antigonish, NS, Evolve Festival is the perfect summer getaway for those who enjoy a good camp, a good trip, and some even better music.

Among the hip-hop highlights at Evolve was a hype performance from East Coast hip-hop Ambassador Classified . At the stroke of midnight after two days full of music, Class welcomed the largest crowd we saw during the weekend to the Sunflower Stage, which is the biggest of seven on the Evolve grounds.

Class brought it home with crowd favourites like “Inner Ninja,” “Oh Canada,” “The Maritimes,” “No Mistakes,” and a personal favourite, “Pay Day.” During “Oh Canada,” Class brought some friends on the stage including Quake Matthews and his band, the crowd went completely wild as colourful streamers shot across the sky and landed with the wind.

The Sunflower Stage is a meeting place for all at Evolve, as you can see in the artwork below by visual artist Sharon Epic , this festival brings together an assortment of music lovers, from Hula-hoop addicts to the infamous “Watermelon Man,” who dresses in legit watermelons every year for Evolve.

With massive screens on each side of the stage, Class took some time to play around with the audience by bringing the first person to tweet him onstage to spin a massive “wheel of fortune.” The winner spun and received $500 of Classified merch which he happily shared with the crowd. Check out Class’ live performance of “Inner Ninja” featuring Halifax crooner David Miles below, and keep an eye out for more Evolve coverage coming soon featuring acts like Ain’t No Love, A Tribe Called Red, Quake Matthews, City Natives and more!
