Tickets on sale this week for 'UFC 155: Dos Santos vs. Velasquez 2' in Las Vegas

Tickets for the Ultimate Fighting Championship's year-end UFC 155 event go on sale this week.

"UFC 155: Dos Santos vs. Velasquez 2" takes place Dec. 29 at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena and features a heavyweight title fight between current champion Junior Dos Santos (15-1 MMA, 9-0 UFC) and the man he beat for the belt, Cain Velasquez (10-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC), in the pay-per-view's main event.

Tickets for the event go on sale to the general public Friday at 1 p.m. ET (10 a.m. PT local time) and are available at the venue box office and Ticketmaster locations. Ticket prices start at $75 and go up to $800, plus fees.

In addition, members of the UFC Fight Club can purchase tickets starting Wednesday at 1 p.m. ET. And subscribers to the UFC's e-newsletter can purchase tickets Thursday at 1 p.m. ET.

It's the UFC's fifth straight year-end event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The UFC holds its year-end cards as close to New Year's Eve as possible. However, depending on the calendar, the shows sometimes take place after the new year, as it did with UFC 125, which took place Jan. 1, 2011.

UFC 155 will be the 24th UFC event at MGM Grand Garden Arena, which most recently hosted "UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II" on July 7.

The current UFC 155 lineup includes:
  • Champ Junior Dos Santos vs. Cain Velasquez - for heavyweight title
  • Phil Davis vs. Forrest Griffin
  • Tim Boetsch vs. Chris Weidman
  • Joe Lauzon vs. Gray Maynard
  • Alan Belcher vs. Yushin Okami
  • Phil De Fries vs. Matt Mitrione
  • Chris Leben vs. Karlos Vemola

Cant wait for this fight, 1st was a 1 sided fight. Really like both these fighters, hopefully Velasquez will bring it this time & it'll be a good fight. Weidman-Boetsch will be a good fight, Weidman will really solidify his claim to a title shot with a win.

Decent card, want to see Cain Vs JDS II. First fight was random, whilst JDS won fair and square that was a punch Cain should have never got caught with, it was telegraphed, not technical and poorly executed?but just happen to land on the back of the ear in the perfect spot.

Not taking anything away from JDS but I think the 2nd fight will be much more competitive and people shouldn't be writing Cain off.

so basically what you r saying is that the best boxer in this sport landed a not technical, poorly executed punch and dropped the guy that everybody believed to be the heavyweight at the time?

Jackson5 on Oct 22, 2012 at 7:49 am ET

Correct, the fact that he is one of if not the best boxer in the sport makes it worse.

Watch it again, he looped that punch from way back and didn't even connect with his knuckle, or in fact fist, it was a club more than a punch.

So the fact remains, it was a poorly thrown and executed punch that Cain should not of got caught by.

Are you serious dude? jus watched on slowmo, he faked the left and threw a big right hand with speed and power right to the side of the head. What part was not technical or poorly executed in your opinion?

Jackson5 on Oct 22, 2012 at 8:21 am ET

The set up was smart but the actual punch thrown was poor, albeit powerful. It's just down to opinion, I use to watch study a lot of boxing years ago and I am quite critical of how punches are thrown.

To me a technical and well executed punch is thrown without telegraphing, not from the hip and should land on the opponents chin and with the knuckle or at the very leasy closed fist.

Again not taking anything from JDS, he has good boxing but I just think that punch was one of his lesser technical strikes.

Wow, great lineup of fights.? BUT, at $ 75 to $ 800 there are going to be some howls of protest if one or more fighters pulls out due to injury.? Not that it has happened before ....

Tough choice for ticket buyers - buy now and get the best seats or buy later when you are sure all the fighters are going to show up and you get a less than perfect seat.

A crazy fact I recently read ?

In 1929 Gene Tunney defeated hard-punching Jack Dempsey in Chicago. The live gate was the largest of the time, 2.6 million. The Champ, Gene Tunney, received a 1 million dollar purse for the fight.

Do you think Junior Dos Santos will get a 1 million dollar purse alone for this fight?

Yup, I see Cain moving down to LHW before I see Jones moving up to HW.

i was thinking about going to this card but starting at $75 is steep when you know 1 or more of these fights won't happen to due to injury with the way things have been going. maybe if it isn't sold out I will buy tickets when it gets closer. i can get my live mma fix when the world series of fighting comes out those tickets range from $20-$100?
