Southwark Council has a legal obligation to periodically consider which parts of the borough have special architectural or historic interest and should be preserved or enhanced by designating them as conservation areas.
Conservation area status is not just restricted to buildings. Open spaces, cemeteries, a historic street pattern or local centre can have just as much architectural or historic importance.
To get a detailed map of the council's designated conservation areas and to check if your property is within a conservation area, simply type the postcode or address the interactive maps .
