High Definition television from the BBC. BBC HD is a trial channel which started on May 15th 2006 with the world cup football event. Its due to last 1 year. Broadcasting on Sky channel 145, and cable. Programmes include live simulcasts with BBC One for HD produced programmes such as Torchwood, Hotel Babylon, and live sports events like Wimbeldon. Repeats of natural history programmes such as Planet Earth are also broadcast, at all other times the channel shows a loop of forthcoming programmes.
Official Channel
On December 1st 2007, BBC HD officially launched as the BBC's free to air high definition channel, after approval from the BBC Trust. BBC HD is on channel 143 (Sky) and channel 108 (Virgin)
